FD upgrade on supercharged
What do you guys think of a FD upgrade on a innovate SC? Think it'll run through the RPMS too quickly?
I do have an A/T as well and I've heard huge improvements in acceleration on a stock motor. Want some input on this *Note, I posted this in forced induction as well but I'm not sure where this topic should've went. |

Look at my DIY link in my signature, scroll past the first post which is all of the DIY, and read the 3rd post.

What about those on A/T? I'm honestly thinking of the 4.88 but looking at the torque curve we have on the supercharger, it doesn't seem like any benefit at all. What do you think dustin? Last edited by azynneo; 11-09-2015 at 05:02 AM. |

I'll be running a m85 diff off a is300 on mine with the 3.73 rear. You're going the opposite direction with your final drive.
You want a longer final drive on boosted cars, that way you are staying in your power band longer. Unless you are running auto X you really do not need a final drive as crazy as 4.88. Your initial acceleration would be OK but your top end will really drop off very quickly. The high final drives are best for a N/A car. Running boost with a supercharger you will see the best overall results with a lower (longer) final drive. |

Agreed with BRZoomTX. If you want street/AX acceleration, then, I can see going with a shorter final drive. But, if you are into road coarse track driving, you need to pick a FD that keeps you in the lower gears as long as possible and definitely avoid need to shift to 6th which is too tall to be useful on track.
I've also been considering something like a 3.73 since most of the tracks I go to have quite high top speeds and I'm right at needing to shift to 6th.

If you have an AT, it's worthwhile. With an MT, I wouldn't recommend it unlses you have a very, very specific reason.
