Can someone tell me what I'm missing? I replaced the cylinder, and the clutch engagement is more abrupt. It was harder to feather the clutch, like when accelerating from stopped on a steep incline. My son drove the car after the install and before we spoke about it, said the same thing.

I've since gone back to the stock cylinder, and am pretty happy with it.

What positive difference(s) am I supposed to be noticing?

Did you adjust the height/engagement point as well?

No, I didn't, but I don't see how that would affect the abruptness of the engagement.

I see the OP and others complained about the amount of travel between the touch point and full engagement being too much. The mod certainly fixed that, but too much for me.

I also see I should have done a bit of research before posting.

That was it. More abrupt engagement means more precise and repeatable modulation/feathering of the clutch.

Question: I was under the impression that my description of the difference is pretty clear in the OP. The initial thread I referenced contained quite a bit of debate and explanation. Do you feel the objective isn't clear? I don't want people wasting their time and money.

edit: oh, duh. I see your follow-up. Ah, well. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

It will increase the pedal force about 17%. That's significant.

It's not a matter of FI specifically, it's whether or not you are running a heavier aftermarket pressure plate.

What's your clutch setup now?

edit: saw your post in the Sprintex thread and put it together. Again, as long as you're running the stock clutch and you don't mind the heavier pedal, you're fine.

Read the OP carefully. This will make your clutch engagement sharper; more sudden. Be sure this is your goal.

edit: subscribing so I can do this mod once i get my car. I've read way too much about the clutch engagement being vague and that's the last thing I want on a dd.

I'm just reading through this thread and would like to do this mod, but I'm confused with all of the part numbers thrown around on the first page and the 2 different castings. People are saying that we want AutoZone Part# 900061 with the angled banjo retainer, but the pic in the instructions doesn't look angled?

EDIT: Looking at the photos next to each other like that, I can see how the angled mount would be preferred to avoid stressing the hose, was the photo in the instructions actually the stock slave or the "incorrect" replacement?

I'm sorry, guys. The photos show the wrong part. I've been meaning to go back and update the photos but got lazy. The Autozone 900061 and equivalents are the correct part with the angled guide. They look and fit exactly like the factory unit.

@ck-GT86, that's great! Mind if I quote you at the end of the OP to get it all up front?
