Removing Headliner?
Has anyone done this before? I want to put some deadening/insulation (3m Thinsulate Accoustic) up there to keep out some sound and heat and get rid of a rattle but just a little worried about how to do it. I have a fair amount of experience taking the car apart but just haven't touched the roof yet. From what I understand I will need to take off the visors/dome light and possibly the quarter panels to remove the headliner.

Doesn't seem like many people have done this route. When I have the chance I'll give it a shot and post pics.

Just curious... Are you sure rattle is in the headliner? I had a rattle I couldn't locate and was my homelink rearview mirror. The screws were stripped by whoever installed it at the port. (Speaking of which my dealer hasn't called me and they should have the new bracket by now dang it!)
Thanks!

Basically anything that touches the headliner needs to be removed...A pillars, B pillars, C pillars, and visors. From there, it's just a couple of plastic snaps. Pretty easy removal compared to most cars.

3 plastic clips in the rear up near the back window (pop off with flat head), pull the C pillars (pull), remove the sun visors (2 screws each, optional if you have lights in the visors: unplug), remove sun visor retaining clips (use flat head lightly remove), remove the dome light (flat head, unplug), remove bluetooth mic (flat head, unplug), pop the center front of the headliner in front of the dome light.
After you get all that removed, the headliner will sag down. Use the space behind the C pillar and in front of the A pillar to shimmy the headliner out. You do not need to remove B pillars. |

There's really no room to get pictures.... It's pretty straight forward, though. Once you start ripping into it, you'll see how everything comes out and goes back together.

It's pretty straight forward and evident, once you start it you will know your way. I did it on mine. Added dynamat and 3M thinsulate to it. My car went so quite when it rains.

Digging an old thread up and was wondering how much space there is between the hood liner and the roof ?
Would one be able to use 10mm closed cell stick on foam or would 6mm be a better option . |

I shoved deadener & then some 12mm acoustic foam liner in there & there's plenty of room for all this . . . much more solid & quieter now.
