Tuning Options??

Hello everyone, Please pardon my noobness but I was preparing and researching a build I was going to to do in the coming months. I plan on adding several engine components ,SBD500x Turbo Kit, HKS Forged Internals, as well as a BUNCH of supporting mods for the turbo, and upgrades.

Where I seem to be lacking is TUNING, with awesome things like OFT out there and ECUTek, I am unsure what to go with. Or should I just source someone locally to do my tuning and not worry about doing myself. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to be safe then get ECUTek and a local tuner. More expensive overall but may be cheaper in the long run as you have less chance of blowing your motor with OFT and remote tune(very few tuners, if any do OFT)

Usually for FI ecutek is the way to go. But OFT does have tunes for the SBD turbo kit. Either one should be fine.

For any turbo build you want ecutek as it has built in safety features for overboosting etc... Plus now with the new Bluetooth module you can log using your phone.

I've noticed that the 500x kit has an option for them to send the tune, which is what I was debating on doing. Is that something I would install myself?

I greatly appreciate all of the feedback from everyone.

Would you not be able to take the tool to a tuner and have them make a custom map? Sorry for my ignorance, this is a new process for me and will have to find a way for a tuner to tune my car once I install a JRSC. Want to make sure I get the right stuff as they aren't exactly cheap if I buy the wrong thing.

While most tuning solutions are similar now, there are variances that a tuner may not be familiar enough with. Some require specific licensing that a tuner will not want to acquire to create a custom map. Sometimes it's a matter of comfort, a good tuner will know their boundaries and speak up if they're not sure. For what it's worth, I'd find a tuner and tuning solution BEFORE you get the supercharger installed.
