So if you've already had a bad experience with a non Garrett/Precision/Mitsu/Borg Warner turbo....why take the chance again?

I agree with the GT2860 it's tried and true. The disco potato is like cars built from 2008 and current. Yes newer technology has prevented itself, but the vehicle from 2008 (the gt2860 in this metaphor) is as good as you need it to be.

what makes you think these two different companies are gonna fit with each other? Both make their stuff to their OWN spec. They can careless about other fitment as it's not their responsibility.

A disco potato is a GT2860R Garrett turbo. The name came from some automotive magazine putting it on their Nissan Sentra SE-R or some shit like that. It was a brown car and they called it the disco potato, somewhere along the line....the name stuck for the turbo they used.

my guess is that they'll say they can't guarantee fitment because the other product isn't theirs. But good luck.

How that conversation will go
OP - "will your exhaust manifold work with the [some other company] intercooler piping?"

Alan at JDL - "No."
AVO - "No."
MAP - "No."
Ptuning - "No."
Greddy - "No."
SBD - "No."

Homeless dude - "You're a moron."

OP - "you guys all disagree with me, therefore you must be wrong."

More along the lines if he actually gets to the point of boosting the car i see him blowing the engine up in general.
