Polishing paint protection film
Anyone have any suggestions or experience with this? Recently had a rock hit my hood, so I had pdr done on it. Pdr guy used suction cups for his light and it left a circular imprint. Didn't think much of it as I hoped with due time it'd go away on its own (I was told suntek ppf was self healing with heat). Now i just saw under warm light that it also left circular swirl marks on the film..
Fml. Please any help is appreciated. My OCD is killing me! Sent from my P027 using Tapatalk |

If it works like the Xpel PPF, you can pour warm to hot water on it and it should heal. I have done it a few times on my RS1 and it worked for scratches.

You might try some simple green too, it just my be some dirt that's causing the swirls. idk with out looking at it. I use it to get any dirt out from under the film when I'm applying it.

Have you tried lightly polishing it? (Polish not compound).
Although I wonder if the suction cups created enough heat from friction to allow the adhesive to move, or the film to wrinkle slightly - or even the paint itself (this should be highly unlikely). Suntek claims it should heal with ambient engine heat or from the sun, so might just need to wait until it warms up more. If you wanted to risk it I spose you could try a hair dryer on the spot, probably safer than a heat gun. I definitely wouldn't get it too hot though... |
