Oh please. Now you're the regulator of opinion value? Again, the real issue here is my opinion differs from the majority of fanboys so a witch hunt ensues.

EDIT - you know what? The 86 was the best car built this year. I never said it wasn't. I just argued that the Wheels COTY has been plagued with corrupt decision making for years.

Only thing that really rubs me up the wrong way with MOTOR/Wheels is how they give a gobbie to any Porsche or VW. I can usually guarantee that in a tuner challenge will be won by some porsche (snooze) and a new Golf or Polo will cause the writers to get a big stiffy/wet one over it even if it was garbage

That said, a worthy winner the twins are

I refute the fact of fan boyism i would sell my 86 at a whim if the competition produced a better handling/performance RWD sports car at a similar price range.

Ok but there was definite insinuations on your part and i have interpreted it differently to what you have suggested above.

Good grief.. Why the fuck are you all attacking Monty? Did he burst your bubble at one point or another
He never once said in this thread that the 86 didn't deserve a award, but what he said is that wheels is a running joke...
What should be praise for this car is that Jeremy clarkson said it is one of the best cars he has ever driven. That is actual worth while praise, even if topgear is a tounge in cheek approach at some level to motoring journalism. That man has driven nearly every car made after the 50's (afaik) and that is actual praise

I was actually considering aftermarket wheels and tyres until I read what he had to say about it. Love or hate the guy, he knows cars.

Why listen to him just do what you want to the car it's your car/style.

Nobody has attacked anybody in this thread but he has definitely inferred the car was not deserving of the award and was also sarcastic and disrespectful to others.

Your grammar has failed you son.

I have never mentioned or referred to it as being "the greatest car of all time."

Not sure I get the reference, but referring to one of your previous posts I would give even money of the new commodore winning 2013 COTY

MOnty my man...it seems that buyin another car other the the "mighty 86" gives you the same reaction as if you got converted to a different religion other than xtianism and still make comments on their forums. I find it funny and in the same time sad, that people judge you (or anyone for that matter) based on the car you're driving. "oh, he doesn't get the 86 anymore, he's got something else, we better exclude him of our group". On the other hand though, I can't stop wondering (and I know it is a public place and do whatever the heck you want) why are you still making comments on a forum of car you don't own anymore (or not at least for a while)? I mean no disrespect, but is this forum giving you a sense of belonging or something (despite the fact that you're being threated slightly different than others)? I still believe you make a valid point everytime (wheels magazine, etc) but still, ...I am just wondering and I mean no disrespect, really. You are free to do whatever mate, but maybe i just dont see it. It is fun to have you here though so I see few fun boys gettign but hurt for any "different" opinion! :happy0180:

I saw a nice renault clio and man..I must say it looks quite good in real life.
