Sarcasm does not translate well on forums and text. So no harm meant.

The release is pretty vague since it is just sort of a heads up for the real info to come out later. It just says "ratio change" which could be a lot of things. The ones in your chart may be a bit aggressive since the car still needs to meet all the different country's emission control requirements. My guess is since they said "improved performance" with the ration statement that it will be a small change across the whole range not just a final change.

That 4.30 looks like a great choice for some umph off the line and not affect fuel milage too much. I'll be looking into that.

Don't know how much tech info we will see before the NY show. Once that hits next week there should be loads of official info though.
It is notable that the preshow car hype does not mention the 86 anyplace (that I could find) but Toyota is pushing the hell out of some new version of the Prius
"Speaking of the Prius, Toyota says that "the next mechanical marvel in the Prius lineup" will debut at NYIAS this year. It just revamped the core model late last year, so this will be a new variant — and it seems like a big deal, because the taillight pattern in the teaser is totally different. In other words, this is more than a mere plug-in hybrid or EV version of the plain vanilla Prius, but we don't know much more than that yet."

I saw a Prius pulled over for speeding in a 65 MPH zone just yesterday by the CHP.

Made me chuckle.

Didn't you see the ads? Prius are actually quick cars, enough to escape from law enforcements. Those people just don't know what they're doing.

They actually have very adequate power. They aren't "fun" but it's plenty for a DD. I would drive one if I had to put on a lot of miles

I've never been in a Prius but would If they gave it to me as a rental car. As far as the new 86.... It looks like an angry old man that lost his dentures. I'll take the "First Gen" and just upgrade the intake/exhaust myself for that "Power Boost"

I'm personally more interested in the accessories or "add-ons" available.

The Toyota teaser pic of the new Prius variant to be revealed at the NY show is intriguing. As ironic as it sounds the pic would certainly seem to imply a "performance" version. That does not look like the silhouette of your normal Prius that is for sure. They could just ne messing with us though.
