@Rafi@RR-racing
I have been using CarboTech XP10 all around on stock brakes this season and have been very happy with the performance and ability to drive to and from the track on them. Do you know what CarboTech template the stage II front and rear kit uses so I can compare prices? Stage 1 as well, just to keep my options open. Thanks, Alan

I'm wondering if rears make a significant difference on occasional weekend HPDE purposes. I sometimes participate in drift practice days for fun so I'd like to keep the e-brake functional.

Took the RR Racing Stage I kit to the track at Top Gear today at Lakeside International today – Went faster in every session, and fastest in every session. Very happy with the result.
Great session to get familiar with the new brakes + new headers and adjust my technique not my quickest times at Lakeside so far, but certainly my quckest consistent times - and consistent is good it means I'm not generally overdriving. If I can sort my lines through the Carousel and get Eastern loop consistent I'll be happier. Brakes were great - once I got my modulation right. In the first session I was engaging ABS too much which was smashing the pads and generating too much heat. Once I worked out my pedal pressures it was much more consistent, balance was absolutely spot on, the fact that times dropped all day and there was no fade at all (once I was braking properly) was very positive. 40 (4x10 Lap sessions) Laps on Australia’s fastest racetrack - speed at the braking marker for turn is 190Km/h and brake bias felt perfect. |

Thanks for the review! So you only have Stg. 1 fronts and no rears, correct? What brake pads were you running(front and rear)? If these work well with stock rears and maintains good brake bias, I'm just gonna go with Stg.2 fronts as I want to be able to participate in drift events time to time. |

Correct, Stg. 1 fronts, no rears. I went with the recommendation from Rafi and Simon of BP20s up front, and Hawk HP+ at the rear, and bias is fine for my needs - I also do a reasonable amount of drift so this was the ideal compromise for me. If I was doing longer races, less other stuff like motorkhana and drift I'd probably go to the rear kit but for me and my needs this is the perfect setup. I've also got a set of PMU pads on order (front and rear) for daily to extend the life of pads and rotors. |

Hi Panman,
Quick question - your rotors look like DBA's but I believe the kit comes with slotted Centrics. Slightly confused cause I see various iterations of calipers (coating & RR logo) and rotors when images are posted of this kit. Thanks! |

Track Tested, Track Approved
Hey guys. Just wanted to give you my impression of the RR Racing BBK Stage IV front and Stage I rear. I started tracking my car a lot more this year. As I became faster and as I modified my car more I needed to upgrade my cars stopping abilities. I tracked first completely stock. The stock fluid did not fare too well, nor the stock pads. I put in Torque RT700 fluid and Winmax W3 pads. This helped, but the W3 pads would overheat. I should mention my local track is Miller Motorsports Park and is notoriously hard on brakes. My next set of pads were Winmax W6's. These pads were good. However, I was going through pads and fluid so fast due to the heat. I knew I needed something else. I looked at the other kits available and there were a few good options out there, but the RR Racing kit appealed most to me. The combination of quality, function, and price made it the right choice. Installation was very straightforward. I only had one issue because I did not tighten the elbow fitting on the back of the caliper enough. I am using the BP20 pad compound from Wilwood front and rear. I just finished a 3 day event at the track and I am impressed even more with the kit. The pads do not have the initial bite of the W6's, but the setup was so consistent and easy to modulate. I set personal best times and finally eliminated the worry of what my brakes would do in each corner. My wheel weights didn't even melt off like before haha. Also, the balance of the front and rear kit is excellent. Where I like to trail brake into some of the corners never upset the car too much. BTW I am on WedSport TC105N 17x9 +35 and plenty of clearance. I also run Maxxis RC1 r comps and a Jackson Racing Supercharger so my car is harder on brakes than a stock FR-S. Here are some pictures. I highly recommend these brakes.

Would it be okay to run the stage II up front with BP20's, and keep my rear brake setup of: Centric blanks with Carbotech XP8's?
Need to mention that I'm supercharged too. @Rafi@RR-racing .ck Last edited by ck-GT86; 10-01-2015 at 01:12 PM. |
