My blog explains it all:

Can you please show pictures of how you did your drivers side resistor trick? I want to do this with my BRZ as I have a bucket just laying around and I can get rails for a good deal. I want to have fully functional Airbags still with no light! Than you all in advance!

The drivers side is easy. It is just like in the post from the OP. If you are talking about the passenger than here is that info.

It's actually pretty simple. You need to have someone who has the "hog clips" and tool to re attach the seat cover after.

Flip the seat over and pull the cover off from the front. There are little white plastic tabs that hold the cover on. Pull those off and then peel back the seat cover. You are trying to expose the top of the seat where your ass goes, lol.

To do that you need to cut two little clips holding the seat cover on. Once those are cut you can see that green and black sensor. It is glued to the foam. You can just work it off with your fingers. Now it goes all the way back and there is a bar that goes across the back of the seat which makes it a pain in the ass but it can be done with just pulling those two clips.

After that it is attached to some wires that run down to the connector. You need to fish it through the bottom of the seat and out.

Once you have the sensor and the connector you just use the resistor as you did on the drivers side and then plug the seat sensor in. We tucked it under the carpet because taking the evo seat cover involved a lot more work.

I plan on having my seats recovered and when they do I am going to have them put the sensor in the recaro seat. It will work just like factory when I do that.

Right now with the sensor folded up and tucked under the carpet the car thinks that there is always someone in the seat and turns the airbag on.

So I get a nanny light and buzzer unless I have the seat belt plugged in.

Oh also just an FYI the seat belt connectors, grey, need to be plugged in too otherwise you get a light.

What if one would not plug it in?
Does just the airbag light come on or is anything else affected as well?

If you don't plug it in you get the airbag light in the dash along with the passenger airbag not ever coming on.

I think we are running the same seats, I have EVO 9 seats and I have run into this issue however for me I can't get the light to go off.

I installed the passenger seat sensor as I wanted that functional, I put it on the bottom of the seat so I didn't have to remove any cloth inbetween the bottom metal screen and the seat it works although its off most of the time it seems. (The passenger airbag that is, it used to be on most of the time then one day it changed its mind)

I cut the two sensor wires on the seat and put in the exact resistor linked to in this thread soldered and heatsink wrapped but the airbag light on my cluster refuses to go off.

I tested removing the passenger weight airbag sensor and the light flashed then but nothing more.

I tried directly plugging in a resistor to both seats same result.

I just want to get rid of this damn airbag light I hate it... Any idea's?

Hmmmm, not sure. We just stuck the resistors inside the plug and taped them. Once the seat sensor was plugged in the light went off. With the sensor folded up under the seat the pass airbag is on all the time. I had to have the dealer turn the chime off for the seatbelt but that was it.

I was planning on having someone actually install it in the new seat but have not gotten around to it.

On means it thinks someone is in the seat, off means it thinks nobody is there.

To make sure everthing is right you could try and put the factory seat back in the passenger side (with the sensor plugged in). If you did the resistor correctly there should be no lights.

That will tell you it is an issue with the seat sensor.

But I removed the pressure sensor from the seat so I will have to borrow another local's seat. I will try that this week.

Thank you!

Cool. Also it is not a pressure sensor. It actually measures electronic resistance or something. That is why some cell phones trigger the sensor and a backpack wont.

So what extra part does the trd option have? is there a special cancel plug for the seat sensor? i cant imagine that you would have to pull out the seat sensor from the stock seat for the expensive trd option. im sure it comes with a delete plug for the seat sensor. does anyone know?

Just did this today after driving with an aftermarket seat for at least 6 months. I'm feeling paranoid, though. The light is off, but I keep expecting the airbag to blow up in my face. Anyone have any helpful knowledge that could possibly help put my mind at ease?

na your good. it should blow up in your face only while you set the e-brake while stopped so its ok. you wont be driving when it knocks you out.

its gonna wait for you to set that annoying gps (if ur a brz) or wait for you to hold down the tc off button or while your looking for that rattling sound and then when you least suspect it...... POW!!!!!!
