Meh, relax guys, this is just for out amusement/entertainment. If it were a real race - BRZ would defend the inside after the front straight, 86 wouldn't be going sideways in half the corners and BRZ would move to capitalize on those, if 86 did decide to drift.

Edit... After watching again you can barely see a red light on the lower right corner of the gauge camera. Based on this I think they are in VSC sport mode.

So which light is that yellow light that's blinking in my screenshot when Naoki is turning?

Exactly, too much back-seat racing going on here today, lol.
They knew from the start that the mx-5 would lose, that's why it had a closer starting position, so that at least the video would look like a more even race.
I would be willing to wager that if Tsuchiya took the laps seriously, he could cut at least another 3-4 seconds from the lap time in the 86 easily.

That's a "slip" light.
Blinks when VSC is not completely off.

hey, it could be he misjudged the speed (113mph). even if he was new to the track which i doubt he would've known the max entry speed and braking points of every section of the track within a 1/2 dozen laps with the car.

There're a hundred ways you could analyze it. What it boils down to is that the BRZ/86 is faster than the MX-5, and that's all I care about!

Thanks for sharing the video!

The BRZ is much more composed in the track. Does not slide that much compared to the FT86. The FT86 seems to be quite tail happy. There are parts on the video where Tsuchiya (FT86 driver), slides coming out of some corners.

In stock form:
BRZ = A lot more composed in the track, less tail happy.
FT86/FRS = Quite tail happy.

To conclude, you should drive the FT86/FRS a little more careful than the BRZ since it's more tail happy.

I'm quite certain that BRZ can be sideways happy just as much. It's all about how you drive it. If you want to be controlled, you can, but if you want to slide through you can do that as well. After all even a fwd can be tossed into corners sideways.

They did pick their own size. New, 2 liter, NA, 4 cylinder, RWD & less than 2000000yen. If they compared Used, 2 liter, NA, 4 cylinder, RWD & 2000000yen, it's endless

actually there's three. its either the BRZ driver sucked, lapsed judgement or they wanted the GT to win. we didn't have to see the end of the video to know that the MX5 was going to lose unless the GT/BRZ drivers weren't competent.

all i care about is the G-Men, The Yanks and Go Knicks!

Now they need a battle between Tsuchiya's AE86 vs the twins

And its obvious Tsuchiya was going easy, look at the 0-400 times. His competition run was 14.6 or whatever with the 86 14.7 BRZ and the MX5 14.8.

But he ran them again individually, got 14.3 with the 86, 14.4 with the bRZ and 14.6 with the MX5.

I've read somewhere in which in stock form, the FT86/FRS is more tail happy due to its suspension settings.

Also, the stock suspension on the FRS is made stiffer than the FT86/FRS hence making it more tossable on the track as shown in this lnk: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5331

Look at Post #16 on the link above, this was from Motor Authority:
"The FR-S isn't identical to the BRZ. It has stiffer rear springs and rear bushings. That makes it a bit more willing to rotate, both on power and off, and yields a balance that feels both natural and easily controlled. It's a conscious decision taken by the Scion crew to make their version just a bit more fun, a bit better-suited to those with as much taste for a well-carved apex and corner-entry tossability as for outright speed. And that, in a nutshell, is the Scion FR-S."
