Toyota 860

I guess this is the new "Release Series" from Toyota. Not a fan of the stripes but it does get the new spoiler.

The price for all this specialness is $30,040 with the six-speed manual gearbox and $30,760 with the automatic—which puts it $2895 above the price of the standard car. Sales start later this month

Same price as the BRZ with PP with none of the goodies.

The orange is a nice color, but looks red in some pictures.

Nothing says it is going to be a special edition here.

No announcement from Toyota just two sites with almost identical text and some pictures of a RHD car.

http://pressroom.toyota.com/

All I see is an Orange edition with some stripes and other black added and no PP Brembos.

If this really does not come w/ the PP goodies then this is definitely the worst "special edition"/"release series..."

Hmm makes it odd that they even announced US pricing.

To be fair, none of the RS Scions offered any performance upgrades IIRC. Mostly convenience, cosmetics.

Seems like a very poor value proposition. But perhaps that's because the BRZ offerings are really good value?

The sites announced speculative pricing. Toyota has announced nothing.

True-- but at least with each iteration the 'special edition' models offered something that differentiated itself from the 'base' FRS/86/BRZ... This seems like they did nothing except throw a black stripe down the middle of the car.

Does the US 86 not get that spoiler even as an option?

The US spoiler is different. It is similar to the old Scion one. According to these "reports" you get the info center that the BRZ has which the base 86 does not have yet.

Pretty much standard RS extras:
"Besides the visuals, the 860 Special Edition also brings a push-button ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated seats, and a larger TFT screen in the instrument cluster that includes g-meter and lap-timer functions in addition to trip information. Basically, it brings the 86 up to the equipment level of the Subaru BRZ Limited. There are no mechanical changes"

The US 86 only gets the old Scion spoiler. There's a good amount of options on the 860 you can't get on a US 86. I'm guessing the 2 colors are new as well.

(edit) ^^What TCoat said.

Halo white is not new.

"in Halo White and another 860 in Supernova Orange"

Thanks, guys. I was so used to seeing stuff about the BRZ and PP BRZs that I did not realize the 86 still did not get the auto hvac/push start standard.
