Where is it said they stopped JDM production?

I for one will miss the fixed-pricing.

I recently was offered 0% down, 0% interest rate on a new iM, but felt comfortable knowing I wasn't going to get a high-balled purchase price to make-up for the great financing - because due to fixed-pricing every iM going out the door has the same price!

I'm kinda' sorry I didn't jump on it.

Oh well ...

I think he was referring to the classic JDM cars such as the Skyline and Silvia.

Definitely a wait and see where this goes. I hope they keep it the same and not do any face lifts yet with the exception of the Toyota badge. I hate the prototype pics on the front page.

It was a little confusing to me too until I read what he was quoting.

Now if they plan for 100 and only sell 2 year over year they are going to can it but we have no idea how many they planned to sell. They were never after Corolla volumes on this car.
Going by just by sales volumes there should be no Super Cars made and everybody should be driving a minivan or SUV.
Projecting build ratios properly doesnt mean youve had a successful sales year. Meeting or exceeding past sales is a mark of success ie subaru's overall figures for the last few years. These companies are in the sales business, it is sales theyre after. No one said we should only go by sales volume, but it is a better indicator of health than built to sold ratios. Scions sucked after '08, 7 years later they are history regardless of if they built just as many as they sold. Niche cars do other things for a brand, different topic.

The only scion that MIGHT be collectable in the future is the release series builds. But even then this isnt an admirable brand and the legacy of the model is untold.

Personally I do think its a good decision on their part. Scion never really did do that well on their own. Rebranding the Scion products into Toyota's may help with the appeal of the products due to the badge and the reputation it brings along. While I wish the Scion brand could have made it through, I don't really see it as a setback; but as a transition... but for good or worse, that's yet to be seen.

I was thinking more along the "yet" lines... Scion's monospec idea was a nice jumping off platform. Once it moves to Toyota, maybe the facelift will be their design language? Maybe they take off what little amenities there were and add them on to higher trims? Maybe they introduce new mechanical aspects that take away from the car? A lot of maybes, but in my mind it is a cool thought. A stock FRS will be rare down the line.

AHHHHHH got ya then! I have had fears that the car will eventually leave it's roots and become more bloated and gimmick filled to appeal more to the general public. These could be the first steps down that road.
Not to mention what will happen to prices as they move forward.
