From my understanding, they won't warranty any tune. Only the one they provide (CARB legal)

They'll warranty the product but not the power train. With the edelbrock tune they will warranty your car's power train being you are under factory warranty to begin with. Correct me if I am wrong.

Keep in mind the there are a few things to qualify you for the warranty.
Car has to be new-ish (3 years I think)
under a certain amount of miles
registered with edelbrock
installed by certified shop
etc

Still awesome though.

Would I just purchase custom tuning to receive this map and revisions for this kit?

Just my personal opinion, if u already spend $4k for the SC kit why save money on the tune? Go with ecutek custom tuning.

I currently only have the OFT but I have been keeping my eye open for a deal on the SC. If I had to use ecutek then i'd have no problem doing so. Just trying to save some money when able to.

I recently made the change from OFT to Ecutek for an Edelbrock myself. There are just very few people who seem to be willing to work with OFT for a FI tune like that.

I know Ecutek tuners are taking advantage of more advanced features like overboost protection, VVT failure alerts, map switching, FlexFuel integration etc.

Could a tune be done with an OFT? Probably. Is it going to limit the features and failsafes available? Likely.

Ecutek added "easy" boost and overboost management only lately with racerom v10, before they had to create custom maps ad hoc for that

with OFT and romraider you can create a perfectly functioning tune for a supercharger, as steve said, just not for flexfuel cars, and better to stick with petrol only

with petrol it s not likely to get an insane amount of boost, it's not necessary to have an overboost feature and tune for a supercharger is not sooo different to tune for a NA car

if you want to add ethanol, have 4 different maps, etc then yes go with ecutek, if not.. find a good tuner that will make an even cheaper than ecutek tune with romraider

Yeah, a lot of it comes down to the tuners who are putting in the time to make these safeguards possible, those who tune hundreds of these cars regularly, use ECUTek. They do have clients that want these additional features, and have the economy of scale where they don't have to pass along their full research and development cost to you. I'd much rather use a well-established tuner, who already has all of this built out and proven, than pay someone to try to make it from scratch in Romraider.

Maybe there are tuning companies that have already implemented a similar subset of features through Romraider and have the experience of tuning many, many of these Edelbrock kits, but I haven't found them.
