I took a pay cut to work where I am now, plus double the miles in commute. I knew I would be happier tho.

Nope, Sunol is the closest one. There are also E85 stations in San Jose, if you're thinking about the Mines Rd to Mt Ham runs after switching to E85...

Whynotboth.dwg

Seriously though, what are the long term prospects for both? Could the less interesting one lead to more interesting work over time? Does the more interesting one have the potential for faster advancement to close the pay gap? Does much less pay mean less savings for the future or does it mean cutting back from what you're used to? Can you use the higher paying job as leverage for negotiating on the other? Sounds like you're in a good position to ask for more.

Ya, took a substantial pay cut after moving to the central valley since there are much less job opportunities in my field here, so the additional pay cut is a little bit harder to swallow.

Thanks for the perspective, all good questions I should be asking myself the next couple of days. I need to make a decision Monday.

I guess you have to weigh what is more important, money for more mods (honestly, family money) or being mentally stimulated.

Has anyone delt with serramonte subaru before? I'm planning on buying a BRZ there. They're giving me a great deal (2k below invoice). I've just heard some bad things about them so was looking for another opinion.

I'm throwing around the idea of getting back into mid-week drives as we had done so long ago in the Alice's/9 region (worked in Santa Clara at that time). Now, working in Livermore, ideal route is Mines to SJ for a dinner bite.
I have Thursday/Fridays off. Thursdays would work great as a mid week drive for me. Mornings or evenings would be nice as long as we ended on food.

Went up to Alice's this morning. There must've been a Porsche convention in the area because when I got there there were a ton parked already and more coming every few mins and on the way back there were even more.

Here are some interesting cars I saw:

That GT40 was beautiful. Awesome to see one in real life. Always been one of my top favorite cars/supercars.
