I'd request more info on why they think it's PCV and not something else before tearing everything apart. If I had a dollar for everytime a tuner asked me about PCV leaks, including Delicious I could buy an FI kit by now.

My MAP shows .32 bar at warm idle, the throttle being at 13.7% and accelerator at 0%, and RPM at about 850. On cold start I get: .45 bar, throttle 15.3%, accelerator 0%, and about 950 RPM. Did you measure that with a warm engine or cold? and what was the RPM/throttle% at that time? I assume you were in neutral? I have a manual, but I bet the values will be similar at the same RPM/throttle. |

I know for sure 300whp is where the fueling and clutch fall off, because that's about where I'm at right now. I figured there was still some room before a built motor was needed. |

So, I went for it and got the Edelbrock installed by Neal at The Racer's Line this week and the install went perfectly. No issues to report and a 630 mile road trip the next day.
Note this is a stock vehicle and so the install was not complicated by other factors. Some have asked for driving impressions, so here goes... It does drive like stock with a bigger engine...that description is very apt. The power comes in with a surge and not a thump, but plenty there. The idle does act a little weird when cold, but no stalls and it calms down fairly quickly. There is a little dead zone on accelerator travel, but nothing my brain cannot figure out and just give a little more gas. Overall, I am very pleased as it matches my expectations and is a blast to drive. The issues mentioned above are small...very small. I agree with comments that this is the one to get for the money...incredibly professional kit, easy install and I foresee little maintenance, which for me (trust me) is a blessing.

Put car on "Acc", press the gas pedal to the floor about 5 time, start car and let idle for a few mins. The nice thing with this kit, my freeway gas mileage is roughly the same as stock (29-30 mpgs, used to be ~32 mpg). Wish I could say the same for city driving |

Looks like the same as my manual car at 950 RPMs, around .45 bar. I would think something like the fuel trims would be abnormal, since it would have extra air at idle if there was a leak and have to compensate by adding fuel. The bouncing idle certainly is a very common air leak issue, I've had it many times in other cars due to leaks. Maybe the manifold pressure isn't the best way to determine if you have a leak... |
