Talking about tunnel...I am the second car following the garbage truck down hill, towards to the end of the tunnel, 3rd gear ramping up to over 6k-7k rpm and all the sudden my engine cut me off the power for a second, I see a red light flash in the rpm meter, feel empty under the gas padel for the same second, and then things come back. Mine is a stick shift and this is my frist time experience this, any thoughts? Pushing too hard?

Hmmm I don't usually get up there, was it right at red line? Could be a momentary fuel cutoff to keep from damaging the engine?

yeah the behavior sounds like you hit the rev limiter to me. Is your shift light programmed to come on at 7400 RPM or sooner? I set mine to 7000 because otherwise I am not fast enough to upshift when I see the light.

I have not touch the setting of the rev limiter so that is still factory setting. I guess the down hill get my rev up faster than I used to. I guess need to go back to owner's manual.

I have my rev light set up to 3500 to remind me to slow down and save gass. Lol.

Then again when we hit the canyons, I just keep an eye on the rpm gauge instead of the light since I set the light so early.

LOL yeah when I was in the break-in period (first 1000mi) I had mine set to 3800 RPM so I wouldn't go over 4K. Man that was a painful few weeks.

In everyday driving and even on the canyon runs, I rarely rev up to 7K. For me the light is more of an "oh shit I better upshift" reminder in case I do get up there.

1) In third gear, at 6k -7k rpm you will hit 70 -80 mph. Why so fast?

2) The reason the gas got cut off because you reached the red line and our ecu won't let the engine rev any further due to their design. So the electronic cuts of throttle. It's normal. Try 0-60 and feel that again if your shifting is slow by few milliseconds. Think like the gas cut off as engine safety.
