DIY side marker blinkers

Ok, finally took the time to do this tonight. This is my first write-up so bare with me here. First you'll need Electrical tape, automotive wires, screw end caps, wire stripper, sharpie, and patience.

DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK

First off, you'll need access to your side markers and front blinkers. you can do that by visiting this thread here

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11276

Once you've gained access to the side markers, you'll need to do this

Unplug the side marker bracket from the car, you should end up with this piece

Now cut 2 wires about 1 feet long and connect it to the two that are on the bulb end

Locate your blinkers. Once you disconnect the plug, cut the GREEN and RED wires.

Then connect the automotive wires from the side marker to the blinker unit.

Plug the blinker harness back in and test your blinker before put everything back together

Ziptie all the loose wires together including the original harness that was connected to the side markers

If you look up from the blinkers, you'll see a hole that you can zip tie the wires to

Put everything back and viola

Hope this helps. Enjoy.

I didn't notice any difference. I thought it was going to be JDM TYTE fast but no, which was a relief IMO.

great write up! I think I'll be doing this as well, I was sort of disappointed with no side marker on the side view mirrors but this should definitely help

You're telling me! From the profile other drivers can't see that we've got the blinkers on. On top fo that our blinkers aren't in the corners. One savings grace is that in the dark the blinkers are bright, but that doesn't help during the day.

So on the side marker, did you take off tape to the plug and plug it back in or leave it unplugged? Same goes for the other end of wires that you cut opposite of bulb, did you leave those taped or did you connect them with bulb and automotive wire?

Didn't have a solder iron at hand and didn't want to other with heatshrink. That wanted to do a quick and ez mod.

I think it would be cool to use the side marker as the turn signal and convert the turn signal housings into fog lights somehow.
