love it..... 2.8 pounds - Owners manual!

Great job.

We did a similar post on our Evo X a while back.

Engine covers and intake box and little things adds up too.

for all of you who are currently at the office

8 pounds is equivalent to a stack of 750 standard/letter sized pages, that's a huge shit.

Please note that CCA is important to anyone that will be driving this car through cold weather. Smaller batteries are great for weight savings.

I figured that would stir up something, but seriously has anyone thought about taking out the A/C unit? Its already a pretty crappy unit. I feel like its the same crappy one that comes in my Aston. It only moves air doesn't actually cool it down.

Apparently aftermarket headers are worth 8 pounds, which could be nice since it's at the front of the car.

Looks like a net savings of 200lbs might be feasible, although some of the parts in the OP's post wouldn't come cheap (the AP racing BBK and CF seats).

The lightest readily available (at Tire Rack) wheel/tire combination I was able to come up with was the 17x7 Kosei K4R wheel with 215/45-17 General Exclaim UHP (ultra high performance summer) tires, and having them shaved down to 6 or 7/32 (an extra $100 at TR) would save ten pounds per corner, going from 41 lbs stock to 31 lbs stock for a total weight loss of 40 lbs of rotating mass. Or you could step up to a better tire like the Continental DW and give up 2 lbs, but still save 32 lbs total.

Weight loss follows the $ per pound rule, especially if you want to keep the car's utility. As you take more and more weight off, it becomes more expensive per lb. I learned a lot about this topic going from a C5 Z06 to an NA Miata. Some of the Miata guys are nutters over pulling ounces out of the car...it's fun to watch people get creative!
