Filmed some insane drifting by an FRS leaving massive smoke trails

Thought I'd share. It's a 2jz engine giving it all that power.

This sort of thing always raises a question within myself.
When does an FRS stop being an FRS?
I am not aware of what other changes that car has undergone but, in my mind at least, it is no longer an "FRS". It is something totally different that just happens to look like an FRS.

Hmm good question. I'll follow up with: weren't the cars designed as a 'blank canvas' where one could do whatever they want with it?

I do agree that adding a more powerful engine changes the spirit of the car, in my eyes. I wanted a turbo a month in, did all the research into what changes that entail. Now, I don't care for one. Hell, I don't even care to swap out the header and tune it for that extra 10-20whp..

By no means am I a purist though. I'll just stick to the awesome little nimble, handling machine that I bought.

Oh I am not preaching purest in the least and yes the car was meant to be modded.
But...
Is a car with a different engine (not modded but completely different), a different tranny, all changed suspension and all the other things that can be done still an FRS?

I'd venture to say no. Drastic modifications such as what you listed completely changes what the car is about.

to be honest I agree, this is no longer an FRS lol, it just has the shell of an FRS.

But, if its not an FRS, what are you supposed to brand it as?

Welcome, torontonian. Absolutely still an FRS. Here's my take:

Never even close to a Camry

Started out as one and still needs zip ties to hold up the bumper? It's an FRS

Hmm. Can I replace the parts in my FR-S piece by piece until I have enough spare parts to build an entirely new second FR-S and call it the same car?
