BRZ pricing here

We now have the US price for the premium MT at $25,495 - $1315 higher than the FR-S. If we assume that gap will grow to say $1700 here (a generous assumption given WRX markups) that will give a CAD price for the Premier MT of $27690. For that extra $1700 you get:

- HIDs
- different dash
- different seat fabric
- LED DRLs
- EDIT: nav now INCLUDED (see press releases from today at Subaru Canada)
- different HU (TBD)
- black tach
- interior trunk lid lining
- auto-on headlights

A lot of extra $ for not much IMO. And of course no red, dark blue, or dark grey colours for us.

EDIT: with nav now included this may not be a bad deal after all - have to see what the final price is.

Yeah the more I see pictures of both cars the more I want the Subaru over the FRS. However it all comes down to the CND markup from Subaru as Scion seems very reasonable.

Nice list of standard features and I still prefer the BRZ's looks, but with Subaru's usual pricing scheme, a Limited will be $32K before freight, pdi, taxes, etc.

According to the press release you also get the heated mirrors standard.

Correct, but that feature does not differentiate it from the FR-S which has standard heated mirrors in Canada, thus it's not on my list.

I honestly can't understand how anyone prefers the black mustache up front on the BRZ. It would force me to replace the front bumper. I also hate the painted plastic dash but everything else looks great. I definitely prefer the BRZ headlights.

^ Totally agree based on photos/video. (I actually see the bumper band as an orthodontic retainer!)

However one forum regular mentioned that after seeing the 2 live at an auto show he changed his mind on the BRZ's looks, so I would like to see both in the flesh before making a final decision (assuming the BRZ is as price-competitive here as in the US).

I just find the BRZ front more subtle then the FRS. Maybe when I see more of them in person my views might change. Also, the interior and nice list of options that the BRZ offers is more appealing to me.

If we would have the 86 here (with headlights, seats, etc..) I would take the Toyota right away, the only thing I dislike about the FR-S is that for people like us that knows more than the average buyer about the car and it's history, the Scion version is a cheap'd out version.

For me it boils down to the fact that subaru ENGINEERED and developed this car. I simpy can't buy a scion when i know its a Subaru at heart.

Plus- there is a high probability insurance rates will be lower on the subaru based on the demographic of people who purchase it vs. the FR-S.

I doubt you'll have that luxury if you want one in the first few months of release. Pre-orders are adding up quick in Ontario and my Scion dealer told me his allocation numbers will likely be very low. He told me they should have the numbers any day now.
