Different Steering Wheel?- NOT?

In the "What did you do to your BRZ\" today" thread there was a photo of a Nardi steering wheel mod.
At the time, I thought that this would be a super mod to do. Upon some more thought, however, I realized that this would delete the steering wheel airbag and this is not going to happen. Am I right?

This is a personal question. Do you want to trade off some safety, and potentially break your skull for a steering wheel?

I'd only run a non-airbag steering wheel in a. a car that never had an airbag or b. a car that has a harness so that I don't have to worry about hitting my head on the wheel.

Regular seatbelts are designed to give in an accident to allow the airbag to function properly. Not great for a non-airbag wheel.

I believe there is a momo steering wheel you can order that keeps the stock airbag.

DCT offers a steering wheel upgrade that wont get you maimed in an accident. $700 but still street legal and you can modify the carbon, leather, or stitching however you like. Been a favorite with the Porsche crowd, we have one in the GTR and 997tt

Cusco also makes a beautiful wheels that allow you to retain the factory airbag, and I do know a few other manufacturers with wheels in the works.

Cusco Sport Suede:

Cusco Sport Leather:

Yeah, they look amazing too! Loving all of the options out there for this car, and always excited to see what is coming out next.
