Took us 50 years to get our apples in there - good luck with your car!

Come to New Zealand instead - we have no car manufacturing here so no tarifs on imports (although might be some GST). And every new immigrant gets a free sheep!

Yes, it's a beautiful place. I still miss it after almost 40 years away.

To keep it simple, I bought a 30ft yacht/cruiser whilst I was in the states which was going under liquidation for some unforeseen reason.. made out a cheque for US18,000. Shipped it back here and sold it for roughly $64,000

I looked into bringing a car back from the UK when I lived there for a while. I think you got the picture that it's going to be pretty much impossible!

One more thing that no one has mentioned, you have to pay import duties + GST on a car if you bring it in as a personal import (owned and driven for 12months+ overseas and you're moving back to Australia). You'd have to pay about 20% of the value of the car, and customs get to decide the value!

God we suck so much when it comes to bringing cars into Australia, please please can we stop propping up the ludicrous excuse for a local car industry, no one buys Falcons and Commodores any more!!
