Was thinking about this for a minute. Shouldn't be too expensive and you won't lose any steering wheel functionality BECAUSE there are no steering wheel controls!

Think I'll get that and grab some epoxy and call it a day.

Good, so far it seems like a mistake on my end.

So are there any aftermarket steering wheels with air bag that will fit?

The steering wheel emblems are actually also designed to precisely "crack" open at certain parts, as the airbag door runs across the middle of it, in some cars. This could be one of those, but it doesn't look like it from what I can see.
I wouldn't put anything harder than the emblem on it. Preferably something made with silicone or jelly-like.

So are you saying it can be taken off without deploying the airbag? Because I just thought of an outstanding idea if you can successfully remove the badge.

On my car it's possible, so it should be for other cars.
I'm no airbag expert though, so I don't know about this one.

Though I'll say they're going to be a pain to take off cleanly. I'm thinking they have thin, brittle pegs that go deeper into the airbag, like mines. As you slowly try to pry the emblems out, they will snap and break (or your entire emblem even). At the same time, you might scuff up the airbag around the emblem from repeatedly trying to pry it.

It's not something I'd be willing to do just from the risk of having it look like crap and the inability to undo it. I'm not a JDM purist anyway, but that's what I know.

I'm going to rip it out and fill in the hole with some sort of liquid and paint the whole damn airbag. So sick of that Scion logo.
