Wheel selection can get touchy but I gotta agree with Mike. On my personal car I wouldn't "upgrade" to anything less then RPF1s.

Not sure why you're shopping when you got 8 RPF1s as is. Not legal but it's only temp

If my wheels spun at 100krpm like a turbo shaft I would probably agree with your ebay comment, but you're comparing apples and oranges. ebay turbos are documented garbage. Anecdotal evidence says Rotas are as strong as the next wheel. What part about so many WRXs running on Rotas (and similar or even cheaper wheels) just fine makes you think they are of such questionable quality that they wouldn't work on a car that's 500lbs lighter?

FWIW, I have Enkeis.
Find me a single wheel that is similar weight or ligher than a RPF1 at half the price. With similar strength.

@OP: If you have extended studs, spacer + OG spare is the best option. Ebay spacers will do just fine in this case.

Sure is. $1700-3000 is my spending limit. At the upper end, they're forged for that kind of money or a total fucking waste.

I would love to own a set of $3000 wheels but I'd cry myself to sleep if I damaged them.

I recently dropped a spray can on my RPF1 and chipped off some paint. After a minute of rage I can careless.

^ They advertise the Enkei Fujin wheels as compatible. They have it in 17x7.5 ET40 5/100 size. ~$200 ea. CAD from an e-tailer here in Canuckistan.

Quote:
Name size offset
OEM Spare Tire (doughnut)
Enkei RPF1 17x8 45
Enkei RPF1 (very tight fit, but works) 17x9 35
Enkei Fujin 17x7.5 40
Kosei K4R 17x8 36
Mach V Motorsports "Awesome" wheel 17x9 42
Rays CE28N 18x7.5 47
Sparco (designed by OZ) Assetto Gara 17x7.5 48
Subaru OEM STI Wheels (2004) 17x7.5 53
Team Dynamic 1.2 17x7 38
Wedsport TC105n 17x9 35
Work Ultimates 18x8.5 47
Insert disclaimer that those wheels are not advertised as "race ready" like the RPF1's and the like. That and pull up internet meme's about rotas disintegrating etc... That said even Wilwood BBK had the disks seperate from the hub-plate-thing. Basically use caution.

Edit: Maybe take a look at Team Dynamics wheels from England-land. The price for them seem pretty alright and well... just take a look :p A certain hi-po Ford hatchback forum has an importer as a sponsor and they look alright. Also seem to recall a few pictures of them posted here as well. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=team+dynamic

You'd have to see my BBS then... although they're in pretty good condition for the use they've seen. The two previous owners had then on (real) race cars...

Yup! They're not DD wheels for sure. I don't want to talk about my wheels. I prefer not to invoke any luck, one way or the other.

i would say that the team dynamics are are likely stronger than the rpf1. i also think that the mach v awesome is a decent enough option and a much lighter weight. the kosei k4r is a beast of a rim for miatas. i would imagine its pretty amazing in the larger size too. rota isnt my cup of tea but i think that they put out a decent product for the price.

Re: Team Dynamics. They're heavier if I recall, in the neighborhood of 18 to 19 lbs for the Pro Race 1.2 17" sizing...because people broke them in non-race situations (pot holes kill wheels!) and they responded by making them even tougher.

This... I'd actually run rota's on my BRZ. I've run them on my other cars, still do on the ITR in fact.

They are a bit too heavy in the larger sizes though, but for a spare.. who cares.. I don't know which might fit with the sprint kit though

probably the Rota Titan, available in 17" and under 18 pounds. It's their TC105 replica...
