Sigh, crickets are back. I was ~@900miles since the TSB w/o the noise coming back. Drove 300 miles on Friday and I *think* it was okay when I arrived at my destination.
Drove home today and heard them when I stopped for fuel, again when I stopped for a snack. And yet again at home. Around 40F-50F ambient temp range. Loud and clear as before.

Taking my car to the dealer tomorrow morning for GPS TSB work. They'll hear about this one too.

honestly you guys are wasting your time and gas going in for the HPFP change. youll keep having the chirp no matter how many times you change it till they actually fix the HPFP plunger seating placement. i stated before , they keep replacing the pump with the same crappy pump. my best friend is a tech at toyota and said to me wait till we get the newest updated HPFP then come for the replacement youll waste your time and give yourself headaches going back and forth and the displeasing of changing and getting crickets again isnt worth your trouble. but i guess do what you feel is best, if you ant to make your car an actual lemon by having it replaced multiple times then by all means but i want the right part put in my car and not a crappy part that will keep giving me the same sound after 1-100 miles.

id be pissed as hell. some tech is tooling around in your car while they wait for a part thats effed up dude. if they are waiting for a part to fix your car why in the hell are they driving it? id tell them im quite angry that someone is driving your brand new car around without your permission while youre waiting for it to be fixed. it should be in the garage inside and no one should be touching it. you paid hard earned money for something brand new that you are spose to be driving not some A tech or service manager to beat up on your ride. id demand compensation or maybe tell them to give you the keys to what ever they drive and use up their gas and beat on their car. if im over reacting please forgive me but id be furious if some one was driving my brand new car that i worked my ass off to pay for and putting miles on it, im sure our warrantee is covered for 35,000 miles every 20 miles they rack up will make that , that much closer id seriously give them a talking to

its also bad business and immature of them to use your car to do what ever it is they are doing . it doesnt take multiple 20 + mile test drives to diagnose a problem they are aware of. i used to work at a euro garage and never have me or any of the master technicians there took someone's car out for a ride for that long. unless the owner specifically asked drive it for a while make sure its solid then we would but until we got the okay from the owner we would take it for a maximum of 4-5 miles to make sure everything was a okay and never did we beat on someone's car thats just bad business

I don't get why everyone is surprised that the chirp returns when the same old part design that experiences the chirping in the first place (same part number from what I was told) is installed, just from a different batch.

Has anyone found any written literature from Subaru that states how the pump was redesigned/improved (if at all)?

I read the TSB, all that it says is that the position of the plunger was changed, implying that they are using the same old parts...I am talking about a redesign of the parts themselves....

I think many of us are just going through the motions to have the issue logged and provide enough noise to have this fixed for all. The last thing we need is the pump getting noisier or fail when we are all out of warranty.
I'm headed back to the dealer soon to have my GPS and rear deck popping fixed, so i'm thinking on whether I should have pump #3 installed or wait for the real fix. I will say my switch to Shell 91 has shut the chirps up for the last two tanks.
