Thanks for the support guys. Doing our best as a start-up and providing the information we can with the time available with everything else going on.

APEXi is having issues shipping the filter. They are on extended BO for some reason. We have yet to receive a single one.

I have actually sent a couple racers aFe dry elements who needed something right now in place of the APEXi due to the delays.

I just installed the Apexi filter in my FRS with about 450 miles on it. While I have only put about 30 miles on the car since I dropped in the filter I can say one thing for sure:
I read on these forum about the hiccup, hesitation, while accelerating around 3 to 4k rpm.
I noticed it in my car right away and it kind of pissed me off.

With this new filter, so far, that Problem, is GONE, Gone, Gone!

I can't believe how restrictive that stock paper filter is.
The seat of my pants tells me it was a great "first mod"

We did testing on the APEXi drop in filter a few months ago, and the results where in line with what the OP got.
The car had just a hair over 1K on the clock at this time.

Ambient Temp: 87F
Elevation: 4600 Feet

Weather: Sunny
Car: 2013 Subaru BRZ
Tuner: None, this was for a Baseline
Dyno Info: Mustang Dynamometer
Transmission: Factory 6-speed
Gear: 4th

I've been leaning towards the AFE Dry for a while. Glad to see that it's comparable to the others. I'll be hitting you guys up for one shortly.

Thanks for doing all this and putting up with all the crap that comes with providing any kind of information on the 'net.

Back in the day when I had an LS1 I heard many tales of failed MAF sensors as a result of oiled filters, specifically K&N. I have ran them for years without issues in some fairly high HP applications but I think I will be trying the AFE dry this go round and will be ordering from FT-86 SpeedFactory. Thanks again FT-86 SpeedFactory!

Just wondering.
That's pretty much exactly why. Now obviously, there are differences in flow/design, but like most OEM filters, the FRS/BRZ filter looks to be a thick cloth/paper element filter, while the others are mesh-style filters with much greater breathability. If you are worried about your motor sucking something up due to perceived "poor filtering", don't worry bout it. Remember, anything that could ever potentially damage a motor would still have to make it through all of the airbox/intake plumbing first, and good luck with that. Besides there are 10's of 1,000's of cars running around with low-hanging intakes and exposed filters that have lasted just as long as all-original stock motors.

What's up with the AFR's leaning out over 4,000ish RPM? That looks like it explain the gains you saw to me. Or was there a complication during your pulls (tailpipe sniffer messing up, etc.)?

That I am not sure of to be honest, it may very well be the sniffer as we had it loosely bolted to the tail pipe.

Thanks,
Rick
