No GTS Kit yet?

So I read on the news and other articles how Austrilia and New Zealend are getting a GTS package which includes the Nur Spec Kit how come America has not had any of this stuff released yet? WTF!

I think it's because Toyota doesn't love America... but I do. USA! USA! USA!

But seriously, I don't know. I just like being the first to reply to a thread.

It's not a kit, it's two separate trim levels.

GT is $29,990 RRP
GTS is $35,490 RRP

GT and GTS are specification levels, roughly $30k and $35k respectively. Differences are interior materials, wheels and brakes and navigation.

GTS can also be optioned with an "Aero Kit" that most of the Australian market agrees is hideous. Toyota want $3k on top of the GTS price for that.

Apparently the same thing costs $1.6k in NZ ;-)

i asked the dealership here, we're getting TRD kits starting mid august.
price has not yet been released.

but here in dubai the top level GT 86 comes with a different kit than the mid level GT 86 ( which is the same as any GT 86 in the world )

the kit includes :

- chrome rear diffuser bits.
- FULL leather front and back seats with orange stitching and lining.
- fins on the side of the car ( looks very ugly )
- coloured front grill ( VERY VERY UGLY TOO )

What why does it look hideous outside of the wing i feel its the most subtle kit? and looks nicer with the car then the trd kit.

Hmm, i know a couple of kiwi's

I think most people think the gts aero package is ugly to be honest, but I like it, I know a few others do too, shame there arent options for it in the UK

Welcome to Scion. When sales taper off we might get the cool shit as a special "release series", but otherwise they keep the cars monospec to reduce cost and complexity.

The GTS looks like the same trim as the BRZ limited.
In the e-brochure the wing and aero bits are options for the GTS.

Do we know if America is even going to get the Nur Kit at all? Personally, i want that kit more than any other-- including that hugemungous wing.

Because Scion. If it was a Toyota, we'd have access to the various trim levels and options. Scion, however, is mono-spec and no options - but you can customize! (or so they lie to our faces). Part of the reason I hate Scion so much.

I hope we do, but I have my doubts. Reminds me of my Celica's TRD kit and I love it.

Same here. The wing reminds me of both the TRD Celica and the Supra's old spoiler-- very large but round.

The "Nur Kit" is a factory Aero/Spoiler package, it's not a kit meant to be installed after the fact like other port/dealer options (like the old TRD Celica was).

Unless Toyota USA decides to offer it as a Release Series or something, I doubt it will hit our shores.

The kit will be available eventually to buy by it's self. If not, someone will make a copy of it

As I said before, one of the reasons I hate Scion is that. No doubt the RS series will have a bunch of garbage you're forced to get along with it and like previous RS vehicles, a single 'unique' colour and you have no choice of any other. Keep up that "customizability" Scion, maybe they'll eventually realize what they do is actually "pigeon holing".

Unless what Jeff suspects is true, which is possible. In the case of a copy, they are always bad. Fitment is almost always an issue and the amount of bad copies of seen of TRD kits for the Celica.... oy. Trust me, you don't want to go that route, the quality is just not there.

You'll be able to order all of the factory parts, but it's usually quite a bit more expensive and they usually take more work to install, since they have all the tooling at the factory to just build it that way. Most kits are intended to be installed after the fact, and have instructions/hardware to do so relatively easily. Most factory aero parts will not come with instructions, and you usually have to drill quite a few more holes, etc.
