So another slammed Varis wide body car...

I'm glad Subaru won't make that. How would that even remotely resemble an STI? I thought STI was a motorsports division.

Design on the front fenders into the doors don't seem like it flows too well.

I think this is an excellent display of what the 86 is capable of and should be praised. You should also know that Nguyen's 86 isn't just another, it is THE slammed Varis. This is all over the web because it is fucking fantastic. I'm not sure if you don't understand Motorsports or if you just didn't read the modification list, but this would destroy any BRZ STI that Subaru would ever dream of making on track while looking a million times better all day long. Maybe you've just lost your passion for these cars because you no longer own one.

Honestly, coming from a person who drifts you have no room to talk about slammed anything or "Motorsports". That's just my opinion though, since we're obviously sharing those whether they're positive or negative. I feel that the time, effort, money, and passion that went into this build and the fact that it still inspires current and future 86 owners today commands more respect than your reply affords. Maybe you should've thought twice before sharing your negativity with us today.

You misinterpret everything I said. The title is "the BRZ STI Subaru won't make". There's a reason why. It's extreme, expensive to replicate, and doesn't really go along with what they're known for when it comes to their STI divisions for a street car.

Not once did I say anything negative about it. All I'm saying is that it's another built car with a Varis wide body on it. There's quite a few examples that can be seen around the Internet. My comment was basically aimed at the fact that the title doesn't really fit the build to me. You chose to over analyze it. Not my problem.

And in regards to these cars, I still recommend them to people on a nearly daily basis. I like them quite a bit. Only reason I don't have one is because it didn't fit my needs anymore.

You guys ever see how a Gumpert makes a side curtain using the body work?

It creates side curtains using multiple mini-tornadoes created by the body work. How clever is that? Functional and yet not even visible to the naked eye!

This is the type of thinking we need on our body kits. More function - less rice. If the car evolves using ideas like this - we will all be better off in the long run.

On the other hand - it is important to differentiate between street and track. Some things will only work in one role.

You have to ask yourself questions like "Why do I want more downforce?" Is it because you are tracking? Is it because you want it to look cool? Maybe both? Fact is - unless you have a clear vision of what you are trying to accomplish - you run a high risk of screwing the balance of your car up. You and your friends might think it looks awesome but the penalty might be that it doesn't autocross as fast as a stock BRZ.

The only thing you need to do to a BRZ to get an "STI" is put on some FI or go e-85 or both and have a good tuner involved. Done.

There is more to the story with this car and it's history and future. There is one thing for sure - they hit a hotspot with the base car and they priced it to let us do mods that make the car truly special. Even if they did come out with an STI version - most people would probably still get a base or used base and mod it themselves.

Not a fan. And at risk of also invoking the wrath of Ibill although there is certainly some passion put into it I don't know that it is "the slammed". It really does show what can be done if you want to sink some time and money into a car though

"... while looking a million times better all day long." Sure some of the mods are pretty cool but looks are subjective. I kind of think it looks like a stock BRZ with a glandular problem.
