I still find it funny that running e85 completely gets rid of the chirp, especially when so many theorize that ethanol is the reason FOR the chirp.

I add the 2-cycle oil right before or right after I fill up. It will disperse anyway as the gas gets agitated inside the tank.

I may try running straight E85 with no oil on my next fillup, but I like how the lubricating properties of 2-stroke oil offsets E85's lack of them. I predict I will get 19-22 mpg on this tank, which is better than I expected. I was getting 23-26 mpg on 91.

Here's a 2 step process on fixing the cricket noise.

It worked well for me, and it will work well for you too.

On a separate note, I am averaging about 1.5 miles per gallon better fuel economy during daily driving now than before the lucas two cycle oil that cured my crickets. This is after five or six tanks using the oil.(it is one or the other, I just lost count) It has been that little bit better literally since the first time I used it. I don't baby my car , but I don't abuse it. I drive it spiritedly, but try to take exceptional care of it. It sees hard acceleration and sporty cornering with regularity.
I've been on the flip side of it. Crickets haven't been noticeable. I'm on my third tank of gas now, Chevron 93 octane, 10% ethanol. Gas mileage has gone up about 2 mpg. Temps around 94-95 degrees outside with index of 100.

I am on the Oct. 2013 revised fuel pump as well.

Originally the crickets showed up at around 1,100 miles. Finally got them to replace the fuel pump (had to wait for it to come in) at around 3,500 miles last week on Wednesday. Just came home last night and turned down the stereo. Crickets are back after only 600 miles since replacement. Not sure I want to take it back in to get another replacement if this is just going to keep happening. Especially since they damaged my front bumper and wouldn't man up and replace it. So instead of wheels I get to order a new bumper and have it replaced first.

Please call Scion and complain. Seriously. I would love to know how many people are actually doing this after getting a new pump, rather than just posting about it here or emailing them (which honestly won't do a thing). If everyone on these forums that's complained about crickets went out and got their fuel pump replaced, then called Scion/Toyota/Subaru to complain when the crickets undoubtedly come back, they may be doing more to fix it by now, or maybe we'd even have a fix.

Orrrrrrr, people could be patient and wait. I'm on my original pump, almost 20k miles (going to turn today, actually), and the past few warm days, the crickets have been intermittent at best. I haven't noticed any issues with performance or anything to indicate that the pump is compromised. Patience is a virtue, my friend.

I got my fuel pump replaced in February and so far so good. No crickets at all that I've noticed in the ~800 miles I've driven since.

I would have to second this. I'm almost at 18k and the crickets are barely noticeable. Mind you, the weather in my neck of the woods have been in the high 90's with a couple days reaching triple digits. I leave the car on in the garage for a minute or two and step outside to listen. If I didn't know about the crickets, I wouldn't even notice.

I'd also like to add that I've been filling up at 76 instead of Chevron. Unsure how relevant it is, but I figure I'd throw that in.

Be patient and wait for what, exactly?

This is going to be my course of action for the time being. I'm in no hurry to have a dealership tear apart the car just to have it happen again. I've seen that apart from the sound, nobody has reported any issues with fuel delivery. Going to wait calmly until they have an actual fix for this. I figure I'm at 4000 miles, I have plenty of time until the warranty runs out.
