Don't think I'll be able to do all of hwy 1 in 2-3 hrs

I've been doing redwood+pinehurst+grizzly peak during my lunch breaks every chance I get so that's out. I'm thinking maybe Ridgecrest, Panoramic and Hwy 1 one more time this Sat morning.
Cough you could always hike up a mountain on mission peak just hike while pretending you're driving up this mountain it'll take 3hrs total. round trip

And making vroom vroom noises, kicking up the dust and getting sideways on the switchbacks?

It's my last weekend in the bay. Saturday, midnight, still undecided, I set my alarm. Let's see... 5:30am? that should do it. I turn off the lights, kiss my wife goodnight and close my eyes. Blink! Wide awake. I check the time, 5:20, f*ck it, let's go. I stop for gas, grab coffee and sit and think for a bit. Hmmm...Hwy1? La Honda? Mines? So many choices, so much possibilities, but I need to be back by 10. I stare into the dark sky outside, then it hits me... Redwood.

I check the time, 6am, I google the sunrise, 6:58am. I'm chasing the sun, time to boogie.

I pass the xmas tree farm. I've always been weary of driving in the dark. Maybe at one point in time, when I was young, dumb and full of... great ideas. I'm no touge warrior. I flip on my high beams and set off with caution. Then it hits me, the curves come to me naturally, I hit the brakes without need for any markers, I blip the throttle and know exactly what gear to be in at any instant, the muscle memory is all there. I realize I am Takumi and this is my Mt. Akina (cheesy, I know). I've never known a road so intimately, each curve, bump and crest. I decide to push my comfort level, farther and farther, faster and faster. Then I catch a glimmer, WTF was that? DEEEEEER! I slam on the brakes, ABS kicks in, we both lock eyes, which way is it gonna be?! I fake left, then right. He stutters steps, jukes, then jumps toward the hill. We both need new pants.

I get to the outlook on Grizzly peak, where I have had so many lunches by myself I've lost count. I stare into the distance. Clear skies, no fog, wind blowing over the hills behind me from the east, kicking up dust into my eyes, but I don't mind. I watch the sun slowly light up the city. I stare at the bay bridge and SF, I never liked the city, never saw the appeal. On this day, this time, this instant, I'm definitely on the "good" side of the bay. 7:15 am... now what?

Haha, yes, I guess there's a little part 2 to that story. I wrote that little bit on my phone while I was sitting on that log in the top 2 pics. Too busy packing for the big move to Sac tmrw but maybe I can write the sequel sometime when I get a little break

I need to make sure there's nothing else I need to do, but I'm tentatively in. It will be a good opportunity to break in my new wheels and tires too
