I am sorry to admit that on my old TA22, I've been known to use Big Kev's Oven Cleaner.

Usually for me it's:

vacuum the carpets etc
AutoGlymm Leather and dash cleaners on the inside
Washing up liquid on the inside of the windows - watery
washing up liquid on a dry microfibre cloth to stop it steaming up (motorbike trick)
damp microfibre cloth with some Autoglymm exterior shampoo and wipe down the door sills

low power pressure wash the outside with a little karcher ive got
big bucket of water with a bit of autoglymm shampoo in - just throw this all over the car quickly with a soft microfibre mitt to get rid of stubborn bugs and stuff - following the lines that the air would take over the car
then i use a karcher foam lance with some of the snow foam liquid all over the car
new bucket of water with a small amount of shampoo - rub all the snow foam off, again following the lines that the wind would take over the car
dry off with a super soft rubber car squeegee
dry further with a soft chamois leather
spray wheels with an autoglymm wheel cleaner and rub with a scrubby brush then wipe with the leftover water and a crap old cloth

then every month or so refresh the polish (autoglymm again) panel by panel
and wax with some poorboys blue wax (smells awesome) panel by panel every 2 months or so

it takes me about 5 hours to do it properly

why an oven cleaner? couldn't be bothered to get some good stuff?

No one washes cars in my family... I wash everyone's. First I give the car a good spray of water, I use one bucket and one sponge. (Different sponge each time). Start at the roof and work my way down each side focusing on one panel at a time. I'll wash the windows, then wash the rims and tires last. I wax the car with Armor All, then touch up the wheels with some spray. Give them a shinier cleaner look

so from the shit that i've been reading, "interior protectors" are shit and end up killing your interior rather than protecting

and that a wet rag is the best to just collect the dust and clean it again when it gets dirty.

I spray my current ride with a hose and air dry it by driving... done.

I will definitely put effort into cleaning my FR-S.

My current truck? Car wash. It's white. It lives outside. I won't ever show swirls.

My GTOs? Two bucket wash every two weeks or so and a coat of Meguiar's Wax followed by a coat of Meguiars NXT. I daily drove the piss out of those cars so I just did what I could to protect the paint. They were both silver, too, so that helped. In the winter I'd them through the car wash every month or so.

^ That's a most definite on that one... man I hate the snow.

Anyways I usually send my car on through a full service car wash and if my car's interior starts to look a little dirty I send it off to have it detailed for the cheapity cheapness from some trade school kids.

(Thread revival i know..) I am currently looking into that... Ziebart vs yearly oil shooting vs home made, etc... I will get this car rustproofed for sure (I think we live quite close actually...?) as it will be my daily "beater". I've had over 25 cars, but never kept one long enough to even care about rust, things are changing I guess

Many will likely say the FR-S/BRZ needs more power and while more wouldn’t hurt, those folks (the same ones who have probably never driven on a track) are missing the point.

Love the cringe-inducing thing. I'm gonna make it happen again.

One bucket, one sponge here! OK, I use a different sponge to do the wheels. Dry with "The Absorber".

Wax once in the spring and once in the fall with Meguires NXT 2.0 and low speed power buffer. No swirls! Clay bar once in a blue moon but usually only on my garage queen '99 Miata.

If I'm not too lazy after summertime (or rare wintertime) washes I'll shoot a little quick wax spray around.

Toyota proposed me electric rustproofing, at first I was like..meh its crap...but it comes with a lifetime warranty on surface rust. So I guess I'll give it a try myself. Oh and you can transfer it from car to car and keep warranty.
