Man, This red car targa hard top look like a classic Ferrari to me !
The 86 really have supermodel's DNA built-in frame. She is just too hot and balance at everything you throw at

Perhaps the BMWxToyota partnership will bring out the new Supra. That'd be cool.

Targa top, hatcback version would make me consider a trade in... Shooting break would make me consider second car.

I really hope they don't release a targa model..... I didn't plan on getting rid of this car.... but targa would be the only exception. I had said from the beginning it was the only thing I wish it would have come with.

Shooting brake originally a Britsh term, and NOT a stupid term. I want one!,

The press release for the partnership specifically mentioned a sports car with a hybrid powertrain. So as long as you're cool with that...

So anyone else feel like Toyota is steering away from Subaru now? I feel like further down the road the twins are going to be massively different.

automakers do this all the time, ford borrowed hybrid tech from toyota for all their current hybrid cars

Interesting article. Now, none of the TTAC (The Truth About Cars) crew have been really excited about the Toyobaru, so, take it with a pinch of sugar (you know, as opposed to a pinch of salt). What I am really getting at is the ending how it makes financial sense to build the GT86 platform to include a vert and a shooting brake to diversify the risk.

Smart thinking Toyota!

That's the current theory. My BRZ is a place-holder for the new Supra, if it comes to fruition and is released as a true Grand Tourer. Hopefully the 2017 date I read somewhere holds!

A new Z for BMW, that has 86 DNA. If you think about it that's the more powerful 86 people keep talking about since. For example everyone is happy with the handling of this car because of the chassis. How will they solve the COG issue without a boxer engine is beyond me, but if there's no Subaru engine in that thing, and a good compromise with the COG, it's guaranteed BMW will put something more powerful than 200hp. But you'll pay for it, I also see that shooting brake will be more of an joint venture with BMW as well. Because from what I gather(ichi and some others will know about this) it's been too quiet on the Subaru's side well see what the future holds but I'm not so sure on the Subaru in a big picture at this point. Meaning in short I dont' see anything from Subaru other than the Coupe unless something Drastic happens. *whistles*

This is exactly the news I was waiting for! I was about ready to give up on them but now I'm ready to give them more time to release that lovely hatchback. RWD and 3 doors? Yes please!

What's two more years? Or three?
