Local autox group has a new sponsor, in a parts shop in Ottawa. They're offering sponsorship for tires, at a wholesale price. I'm getting in on it, and have been offered tires at $100 a pop for a 140tw tire. Looking forward to giving them a go.

Even if they suck, I suck more. All I hope for is that they last me the year. But, who knows since my work schedule is definitely going to have me off every single weekend so I'll be able to make it to every event. And for $55, you get 5 runs (plus just for fun runs, time dependant) with lunch included. Can't go wrong. Going to try and drag my fiancee to a couple so we can finally finish the debate of who's faster, at driving, that is. In other areas, we know that I am.

I'm pretty sure it was originally intended to be a comedy, but someone took it way too seriously and it somehow evolved into an over-the-top action series. Also, if you watch anything beyond the original, just straight skip #2 (2F2F). It's simply bad. All the others are mildly amusing at the least.

The small town where my parents moved just after I joined the Army in 76 had a small Chrysler dealer.
They had a beautiful, mint condition 69 Dart GTS 440 with around 10,000 miles on it sitting out front. I Immediately went and asked how much. Was told it was the first car they had sold and they had just bought it back so it was not for sale. For the next several years I popped by and asked if they were ready to sell it since it never EVER moved. They would not even though they had been offered buckets of money for it.
After about 5 years the rear window got broke and the animals moved in totaling the interior. After about 10 years of snow and rad salt being pushed against it the whole front end rusted out. All the tires eventually went flat and the wheels sank into the asphalt. They never did a thing to it it just sat there in front of their lot.
When the closed down in 2004 the bank sold it to a local for $200 since he wanted the engine and some parts. The engine was seized so bad it could not be salvaged even with a total rebuilt, the frame was completely missing and all the steering and suspension were rusted solid. All he could salvage were the emblems and some interior chrome trim. He got $80 for it for scrap.
So they stuck it out front, and just let it rust? That seems like poor advertising...

Yes breathing helps you relax and focus on the track and keeping your knees aparts helps with the footwork on the pedals.

Oh wait you mean for the other thing lol

i think he thought you were at least aware of the joke.

this thread shifted course after the third post, and is now "suds and soapiest"

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=98755

but it's only going to make sense after seeing the first fast and furious movie.

you're right. some of it has to do with our age/experience differences.. you were already involved in cars in one way or another by that time, where i was 15 when the first one was released, so it was largely my first introduction to the car world as a whole. i had a 'car audio' binder i carried with my school books that had every printout i could get my grubby hands on with just about anything even remotely related to cars and car audio. by sophomore year, it was thicker than most of my textbooks.

i'd read ahead in the textbooks(and then they'd skip those chapters), and then hide crutchfield magazines in the books so i could read speaker, amplifier and head unit tech... i'm not a very good student

the first and second movies, i watched on repeat any time i wasn't working. i believed knowing every techy line they said was important for a while(i did seriously try to learn what the difference was between the gallo 12/24 was until i caught up on the joke)... heck, i bought a 2001 eclipse in 2007, in some ways because it was in the 2nd movie...

so i probably still take the first movie too seriously

And that's OK.

Back in @Tcoat 's day, he cut his driving teeth on re-runs of this movie.

By the time that movie came out I had been into cars for 30 years! I got rid of my 400HP 91 Talon TSi just before the movie showed up.

We have discussed this before. My focus on cars was driven by this movie.

Totally disagree on 2 Fast. It is probably my favourite since it doesn't pretend to be serious at any point. It is the jump off point for all the even sillier ones that came after Tokyo Drift.
If I were to skip any at all it would be TD since it try's to play off as a drama and fails horribly even as an action film.

In reality all of them (especialy the first one) show the car culture and tech about as accurately as westerns show the old west, James Bond shows real spy activities and most war movies show combat.
