It's the slave cylinder. Replace it.

Car is totaled.
What ultramarron said. Simple fix if you can use a wrench.

Did you discover that because your clutch pedal was getting sloppy?

@Stomachbuzz not so much but every now and then when I let off the clutch there’s a knock sound!

I forgot to remind you to check the fluid level in the clutch reservoir. A small leak by itself will have no effect on typical clutch operation. Only when it gets bad will it start leaking down allowing the clutch to drag while the pedal is held for long periods.
Don't let the reservoir run dry. Life sucks when the clutch goes away.

Did your clutch pedal start to feel any different? Mine started to feel a touch rough along its travel, which prompted me to check the fluid level and notice the fluid stain in the same spot beneath the slave cylinder. My fluid level is also at max.
I guess it’s not a huge issue, but if you’re still under warranty, may as well see if they’ll replace it- I plan to on at my next service. |

So I didn’t think much was wrong with my clutch till today my girlfriend got herself an 86 and the clutch feels way smoother. my clutch reservoir is dirty. Can anyone let me know why it is that my slave cylinders would fail? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The roughness that you feel is all under the bell housing. Typical crappy situation. The stuff that you see in your master cylinder reservoir is just normal rubber dust from the piston seals. I say that with confidence because you haven't lost any fluid.

My pleasure! What are we replacing? I recommend not worrying about the slave cylinder unless it gets really soggy around the rubber dust cover over the end. I don't think that anything is wrong with it.
