Has anyone tested the OP's camera using the 6V output from the HU? Would be nice not to have to run lines to the ECU or splice into Accessory power and just use everything off the back of the HU like is done on ae64's web site.

The only problem I see with putting the camera there (or any place other than the standard Subaru location) are the green, yellow, and red, guide lines on the screen. It seems like the guide boxes were programmed into that position considering where the camera physically sits on cars that come factory equipped with the back up camera.

In other words, the offset guide lines are only accurate when the camera is in this specific location:

The guide box is supposed to represent the space directly behind the vehicle, but if the camera is mounted in another location, it's no longer accurate. Might see if there's a way to turn the lines off?

There's no need to run wires along the door sill. That's what I did (with parking sensors leads), then I found on a thread somewhere that you can go between the rear seat backs and tuck wires up under the edge of centre console plastic. The second method was how I did my rear camera and it is MUCH easier.

Whoops ..... didn't know what laser CM's were, but I Googled. Hmmm.... are you a terrorist by any chance?

Terrorist story: Recently I did something so bad that I felt suicidal. I phoned a suicide helpline and was transferred to a call center in Afghanistan. I explained how I was feeling. "Please hold" she said and I heard whispering on the line, then people getting excited. She came back to me and asked if I was licensed to drive a truck!

Meanwhile, smarty, just for you, I have edited my post

lol. . no worries. I know what you meant. But usually when I see someone installing parking sensors, they're using it as a laser jammer against police laser speed guns. They usually don't market them as laser jammers and instead sell them as "parking sensors".

Oh I see.

My parking sensors are ultrasound so I wouldn't expect them to help.

BTW, here in Australia, RADAR detectors are illegal.

The dreaded & I saw the Jersey Boys movie yesterday. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Who'd have thought Clint Eastwood would have tackled a musical. Is there nothing he can't do?

If you run into Sandy Bullock over there, say Hi from Warren. She'll know who I am.
