You can't move it to the OEM location, the button assembly is too deep and there is a bunch of steel in your way.

Then how does the Premium fit a key cylinder in there? I'm not saying you're wrong because I obviously haven't looked, it just seems weird that a key cylinder will fit but a momentary switch wont.

Anything is possible of course, just a matter of how badly you want it. From what I saw when I (admittedly quickly) looked, it would be a decent amount of work to unmount that box and relocate it. I'll look again tonight, because I would like to put it there as well and put a single cup holder in the middle of the console instead of the push button. |

I can't answer your question but the guy that installed my amp did put a gain knob in the stock key location without any problems.

yeah, i hate to rain on your parade, but the push button, atleast the OEM one is HUGE. look at my photos comparing the before after when i painted. i'm sure you can make it work, but i think its more hassle than its worth. especially because you will have to run all kinds of wiring there.
you may have to extend the piece out a bit more to gain clearance but that will just look funky. unless you can relocated stuff inside the column it will be hard to fit. i can look into this if you want, since i have to pull my interior apart this weekend to put in something i made and thing you guys will like. you have a limited right? |

If you want to move the button to the steering column switching to a different switch shouldn't be an issue.. you can barely see it there anyway. Is there anything special about it or is it just a normal momentary switch?

It has 7 wires connected to it, I would imagine there is more to it than momentary contact. I haven't looked at the wiring diagram to see what logic is in there.

That would be really handy to see. It almost sounds like the switch controls the logic for accessory, start, and off, instead of the ignition module controlling it. That would explain the size of the button.
