Hi, does the Yaris headrest (or other Toyota model) fit the car and bring the neck resting position back? I also have this problem

Hi Folks,

With the exception of what has been discussed, has anyone found a solution to this situation....??

My wife finds the head restraints really uncomfortable ...

Maybe in another thread, that I haven't found?

TIA

I also would like to hear about the results of the Yaris headrest swap. There was a popular swap for late model Mustangs using rear headrests from an Escape that worked out real well.

While it would be a stretch to call our cars exotics they do enjoy some of the benefits shared with exotics. One of those features is the seating position. This car is not designed to be driven/ridden in like a UPS truck. They're designed for a more laid back driving/riding posture. Click the seat back to the rear a few clicks, pull the seat forward to a comfortable spot for the feet and, for the driver, adjust the steering wheel reach for the arms. It may seem a little odd at first but before long it will seem comfortable and natural. When I'm driving my car there is probably four inches between the back of my head and the head rest. The same for my passenger.

My seat is one click away from straight vertical, the headrest is in the bottom most position and I'm 6'. I have no issues. The back of my head ever so slightly touches the headrest and that is it.

My mother complained about modern headrests when shopping for a car. I think it has more to do with poor posture and the shoulders collapsing / rounding forward than anything. If you slouch into the seat, your head will get pushed forward. If the arch in your lower back is touching the seatback, you're not sitting correctly.

Ha....so I slouch and have weak abs (from being a lazy butt), but i find that if I sit in the car and tighten my abs, the seat becomes way more comfortable. As soon as I relax and slouch again, the head rest bothers me.

I think this picture illustrates what is happening

i thought i was the only one this bother. figured my seat was just taunting me and my burgeoning bald spot by tapping on the back of my head

P.S. I have zero issues with current headrest, unless I'm wearing a helmet.
I know this is a response to a very old post, but I think it's worth responding to:

The seat airbags are NOT the side-impact airbags. They supplement them. You still have the side-curtain airbags which protect your from the sides in the event of a serious side-impact. These airbags are mounted in the a-pillars. The seat airbags supplement the side curtain airbags. You can go without them. They are a relatively new (my 2008 WRX didn't have them, just traditional passenger and driver airbags and the side curtain airbags in the a- and b- pillars.

They are also not at all as important as a proper headrest in preventing serious spinal injury in the event of a collision.

I'm also one of those who don't have an issue with the stock seats except they tend to try to push my shoulders forward, which encourages an uncomfortable slouch position. I just compensate by having the seat reclined back a notch or two more, but the shoulder bolsters need to be flared out a bit more. I'm not a big guy, but these shoulder bolsters are still narrow for my frame.
