Us News Best car for the money: Sports Car - Scion FRS

http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com...for-the-Money/

http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com...ks/Scion_FR-S/

"The 2013 Scion FR-S ranks 1 out of 10 Affordable Sports Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 6 published reviews and test drives of the Scion FR-S, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.

Reviewers say the FR-S proves that thrilling performance doesn’t have to cost a fortune.

Reviewers agree that the 2013 Scion FR-S has shaken up the affordable sports car class. Separated at birth from its sibling, the Subaru BRZ, the Scion FR-S brings a surprising amount of performance and value to enthusiasts. Autoblog writes, “Is the FR-S one of next year's enthusiast bargains? Absolutely, and that is a conclusion we consider irrefutable.”

It all starts under the hood. The FR-S’ engine is mounted low and as far back in the engine bay as possible. Combined with its low center of gravity and a performance-tuned suspension, critics say these attributes make the FR-S one of the best-handling sports cars on the market. And although it trails rivals like the Ford Mustang and Nissan 370Z with significantly less power, its light weight and slick transmission choices make the FR-S a lively, enjoyable drive.

The Scion FR-S is the 2013 Best Sports Car for the Money because it has the best combination of ownership costs and positive reviews in its class.

Although the FR-S is nimble enough for weekend track days, it still offers more interior comfort and practicality than some competitors. Like most sports cars, its back seat is tiny, but the seat folds flat to increase utility, and test drivers love the comfortable, supportive front seats and driver-focused cabin. The FR-S also stands out with better safety ratings than most cars in the class."

FR-S and BRZ named top sporty car by consumer reports! The Mustang held that spot the last two years I believe.

Thanks for compiling the list. Just curious, I almost value comparisons like the following to be as much if not more of an honor than magazine and publication awards, because these enthusiasts believe in their quintessential model as much as we believe in our cars.

Scion FR-S Named 2013 AUTOMOBILE Magazine All-Star

Scion FR-S Named 2013 AUTOMOBILE Magazine All-Star

TORRANCE, Calif. (May 21, 2013) – The Scion FR-S was named a 2013 AUTOMOBILE Magazine All-Star today as part of the leading automotive publication’s annual list. To earn its spot, industry judges evaluated the FR-S against all current model year vehicles on sale in the United States across all categories. The FR-S shares its spot with the Subaru BRZ.

In naming the FR-S, AUTOMOBILE Magazine highlighted the rear-wheel sport car’s engaging driving experience and accessibility.

“The affordable and fun-to-drive FR-S is not only a welcome addition to the automotive landscape for American enthusiasts, it’s also exactly the sort of vehicle we’ve been hoping to see from Scion,” said Jean Jennings, president and editor-in-chief at AUTOMOBILE Magazine. “We are very happy to celebrate its arrival.”

The FR-S comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a limited-slip differential and 2.0-liter flat boxer engine that produces 200 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque.

Another reason why I don't trust the US News & Reports College Rankings.
People who tested the car, like the handling of the Scion FR-S over the BRZ because of the non distracting dash (vs the silver out of place dash of the BRZ) and mostly the suspension: the FR-S has more over steer (true race car) and more of a comfortable ride and brand wise is direct successor of the AE86. (taken from the words of those who test drove both cars on the track)

Most definitely, buying something is an emotional decision. If something makes you feel good, you buy it.
