Air Oil Separator? Do I need one?
First time boxer owner here so bear with me...
Is it crucial to have an air oil separator?

It can't hurt... but it can hurt your wallet.
If you plan to keep the car for a long time, like over 5 years. It's a good investment. If you plan to do any forced induction, you need it! If you're keeping the car for a short amount of time like less than 5 years, then don't bother with it. |

Radium recently posted some pictures on their Facebook page of a soon to be released catch can kit for the FRS/BRZ. Their products are almost too pretty to install.

Anybody know where I can get a decent budget one? $300+ for a Crawford AOS seems kinda steep.
Yes, I do plan on keeping this car till the wheels fall off.

Check out: http://saikoufabrication.blogspot.com/ They just released a dual can setup for the FRS/BRZ and I believe they are under $200. |

Under $200 or less would be nice. It's just a can with a filter in it...
Looking at this http://m.ebay.ca/itm/181230273301?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1

OK, I'll be a dissenting voice here. It really doesn't need it, unless you'll be heavily tracking or modding it.

If you "needed" one, it would've came with one.

I am guessing by "Air Oil Separator" you are referring to a "catch can"? I have never heard it called the former. I wasn't aware that these were such a requirement...

http://www.phasteksport.com/2013-FR-...ch-can-175.htm You can see a thread on it here: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?p=805755 EDIT: It's only $90, compared to the others which are $200-300. Seems a bit excessive that something so simple would cost so much. This one also has the added bonus of looking like it's from the factory, and it's nice and out of the way in the engine bay.
