Golf R is going to be fun for sure, Manual I hope!. Its funny, I am more confused now than ever. Subaru salesman recommends I go with the WRX and get the cobb tuning port and a tune from somewhere in Florida. Brings it to 323 crank horsepower and 297 lb feet of tourque for an investment of around $1200 all in. He also mentioned that the new STI model might very well be introduced at the tokyo auto show in January 2019 and be on sale by summer 2019. This would kind of replicate what happened to the twins when they were released. My fear is that the new STI would have a significant negative impact on the resale value of any WRX or STI as many out here would be trading theirs in creating a glut on the Market.

Yup, manual. As for tuning the APR Plus ECU upgrade tune gives the Golf R 357 HP with 349 FT-LBS of torque at the crank with no hardware mods, *AND* a Limited Powertrain Warranty all at reasonable cost - or so I've read on the VW forums. Bonus: APR tunes are available at Trackwerks here in Ottawa... Who knew!?

I have seen it around a few times from a distance. Bumped into Chin at Slick's on Wednesday. He has the buddy clubs as well along with just about every other mod you can do to the car. It was nice seeing him. No disco ball though. Hopefully the weather changes soon. Saw a beautiful white one in Barrhaven. Lowered, tinted, exhaust, with Mark's something on the side rear window. Very clean!!!!!! Nice job!!

Charlie MonKeh's white RB was over at NextMod on Slack Rd on Saturday.
He's got it up for sale with all the mods on it I think.

It's almost time, weather gotta change soon, this is retarded.

Had some fun lately with this crisp weather and worn RS4's along with the supercharged power. Dyno soon to verify power levels and bbk install and alignment and she'll be ready for the track again.

The first 1MoreLap.ca evening is May 4th, come out and I'll take you out on track.

I've heard rumours of spring arriving some time this year. But you know what internet forums are like -- always spreading unbelievable rumours.

Anyhow, I was surprised to see that the base 2018 BRZ is two grand cheaper than the base 2018 Toyota 86. Back at introduction it was the BRZ that was more expensive, admittedly with some extras to sweeten the deal. Strange to see it switched around.

Geez, it's been almost 6 years since the first FT86's popped up in Ottawa. I feel really old now.

My lease expires on Tuesday. Hard to imagine that it's been four years and 89,000km already. Seems like just yesterday I was picking it up for the first time and fiddling with the traction control on my way home from the dealership. I've done something like 20 track days, have towed with it, and even done some off-roading on camping trips. It still turns heads, even when it's dirty, which mine almost always was. Yet, the deal is that when the lease is up, it's up, and that's all there is to it.

So yeah, I bought it out today.

Yay, you get to stay with the cool kids!

But yeah, June will be 6 years already. Never had so much fun and competition with one car!
@Klinn, the pricing is all about the branding. Toyota > Subaru > Scion. Glad I got the cheap racecar.

Much like the cheap price of the Firestone Firehawk Indy500. It's a rebranded Bridgestone RE003 but at 2/3 the price.

Welcome aboard!

Also check out the ft86clubottawa group on Facebook.

I'm Ken Boden on there

I won't have mine out and about until next week.
Are you familiar with M&M on Friday nights? And Trackwerks on Friday nights too.

Keep posted for maybe a spring cruise and for sure a Fall cruise.

Cheers
Ken
