BT OBDII/Android/Torque Confirmed working - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I hooked up my BT OBDII connector today and verified it all works with my FR-S (not really sure why it wouldn't but anyways). Details and some screen shots on my Owner's Journal here if you are interested. If you have any questions I can answer post here and I'll give it a shot. I'm not an expert at its use but it is cool to have access to all that data!

That info/display is pretty neat! Curious location for that port though.

How do you like it while running, is it something you would only turn on during spirited driving/competing?

I don't really compete so it wouldn't be on then. I just find it interesting data to look at when diagnosing an issue with a vehicle before getting it serviced, etc.

Also it lets you look at emissions codes and such should a light come on. I'm sure tuners could find way more use out of the information than I do.

How was the refresh rate? I have the PLX Kiwi WiFi and I've notice the data refreshes at a different rate on different cars. My 2001 Impreza was pretty quick, my Current Honda Fit, and CR-Z have quite the lag.

It was pretty quick, very little lag although there is always some. About the same as the Mustang, Accord and Astro (other cars I've played around with).

The refresh rate could depend on the load on the communication bus for the vehicle.

Can't remember where, but I did read that it is narrow.

We know it's a 4-wire sensor, and it's highly likely that it's Denso limiting-current type wideband. This is, generally speaking, not quite as accurate as the latest Bosch sensors, but not a traditional "narrowband" with a 0-1v output.

People assume that 4-wire = narrowband, 5 wire = wideband. That's half true. Modern heated oxygen sensors (narrowband rear o2 you would find after the cat) are, generally speaking, 4 wire sensors. Old narrowbands might have three wires or one wire if they are unheated.

Pump-cell type widebands made by Bosch and NTK use 5 wires.

Limiting-current type widebands made by Denso use 4 wires.

Some cars use a 4 wire narrow as well. 4 wire doesn't mean its a wideband o2 sensor.

As for the Torque program. You can adjust under adapter status PID read speed and a few other setting to help speed up data rates.

I have been using this for two years and works almost as good as my AIM dash. Just requires a cell phone holder and you have to remember to calibrate the phone to the angle its resting at.

I have not tried it yet on the FR-S, I will next time it is running.

I really want one of these, but i think the physical size of it may not work with me, my legs are pretty close to the plug..

I have a GoPoint BT1, which is a lot smaller then the one the OP has pictured. I have it in the WRX (port is under the steering wheel) and it doesn't get in the way. Don't have my 86 yet, so can't comment if it would get in the way when driving or not.

Could someone familiar with this share any info on basic phone requirements to run the Bluetooth adapter and his app in my car? I ask because I was hoping to just score a cheap used android phone on eBay and use it only for my car. I completely forgot about this app when I was shopping for a new phone and wound up with the iPhone 5
