Plans to wrap header have been postponed indefinitely. I've been seduced by growly goodness and inability to value more wrenching above more driving.

Figured I'd revive the most recent thread... I ran Tomei UEL, OP, and 60R for two weeks with the HKS FP. I didn't hear any fluttering, but that might just be because the setup was so loud. Now I swapped back to the stock FP and hear the fluttering under load. I went under yesterday to inspect and no leaks at idle or signs of soot from a week of driving... Is it mainly the collector design that causes it? 4-1 at low rpm (not ideal) vs high rpm (ideal)? I think the consensus was that's just how it is, but I wasn't sure if anyone figured it out.

My understanding is that it's from thinner piping walls combined with the lack of heat shield that would muffle any noise. This allows you to hear the air as it exits the block and hits the bends. No reason to be concerned.

I have tomei uel and invidia n1. Installed berk op and catted fp and wasn't feeling the fluttering or increased volume. Reinstalled the stock fp and fluttering gone. I even took off the heat shield the stock fp. I think that little box thing at the end of the stock fp does a lot to reduce the fluttering.

I have the same problem

Sounds like a flippin honda!

Should get rid of my Berk FP and put my stock FP on?

So it will be

1320 UEL Catless & overpipe

Stock fp

Custom catback

Since it does not look like this has been solved.

I had this annoying flutter too. I decided before shelling out another $500 for a different header I would try to wrap it.

1 50' roll of 2" wrap (amazon brand, could have used some 1" too) later and the sound is like 90% gone.

So for $15 and 3 hours of your time you can fix this header instead of living with that sound.

I had the problem with my ACE header.

I wrapped it and changed to Remflex gaskets, and now the problem is fully gone.

I confirmed it was an exhaust leak only noticeable during engine load (on the road).

I was convinced mine was an exhaust leak, but I went through 3 different gaskets. Factory, Grimm and ram flex. Sound never changed.

This time I wrapped it and re used my ram flex gaskets and the sound is gone.

For what it's worth
