He'll have one heck of a time dipping into that power without spinning all over the place, especially if on stock tires. Mine was APR stage 2 and I could spin through 4th gear all the way up to 70+ mph.

Well I already have a GOLF R unitronic stage 2. Its fast and corners great on the streets, but on the track its boring. In fact my BRZ is more fun on the street and track. The golf is a family car that also lets you have fun. The BRZ is a car made for the simple joy of driving.

Going fast straight = fast car

Going fast in corners = fast driver

It's even crazier on the mk7 GTI's. With APR's stage 2 tune, they're making ~310 whp and 390 wtq! Holy wheelspin batman, but I bet it's great for laughs.

Yup, that's what I had - it was completely ridiculous. I wish I could have dumped that engine into my BRZ lol.

Hah I was thinking the same thing. Even the turbo FA20's aren't making that torque.

I try to keep it on the up.

But I'm biased when it comes to RWD. I hate power packed fwd cars maybe not the car but the idea I guess

FWD cars are getting better though. There is little to no torque steer in a stock GTI w/performance pack. Same with Fiesta ST. Not saying FWD is better or not better, but it is not terrible either with some of these modern cars. In terms of daily driving, some of these cars have high limits.

Once you start adding 100hp/ft lbs of torque then all bets are off

If the GTI is a station wagon that would make the FR-S a grand touring 4 seater.

Hatch =/= Wagon

It pisses me off that nobody makes a wagon under $40k in the US except VW Jetta.

If you can't stack bodies lengthwise from floor to ceiling, it ain't a wagon.

CTS wagon was discontinued ~3 years ago, also started +$40k.

Although it was available with the Corvette power train and a manual, so that's worth noting. Gave the merc AMG wagons a run for their money but used those are still >$40k, the v6s are sub $30k now I think, but those are 5+ year old GMs...

Now that you mention it, I forgot Volvo V60 starts at ~$35k, out of my price range but it beats my bitchy argument, transmissions are a bit eh on them, who knows how they'll hold up if design budgets were held tight by their Chinese bosses.
