Scion Canada Contest Fine Print (Pricing)

On Scion.ca they have a contest to win an FR-S, and in the terms and conditions it is listed:

My guess is that they are aiming a bit high to cover their butts, but just thought some people might be interested.

Hrmmmm, considering a manual tC with no options stats at $20,940 Canadian, and in the US they start at $19,305, this does not bode well for pricing.

Like I said, I think that's going to be a pretty high estimate (and might include taxes/delivery, it's a bit confusing from the wording). I'm not sure how much information it actually provides, but I thought people might be curious anyway.

Hey, that's no problem. Like it says, that's an estimate, they haven't actually released any numbers yet, so there's a good possibility that's just something they threw out to cover the cost for the rules of the contest or something like that. I'm sure hoping it's under $25K...

30K must be purely a legal thing otherwise it would be more specific. Il'l bet they need to cover their buts for a fully loaded model as well. Also june sounds like official release of price, should find out a bit sooner, especially since prices (may) have leaked in some European countries.

From the looks of this, does this mean the BRZ will be released before the FR-S?

I saw some guy on this forum leaked the fact that BRZ will be release sometime in May.

It's Scion Canada. I wouldn't use that contest to make any assumptions about Scion America or the FR-S/BRZ release date/pricing in the States.

Also because of the Cdn Subaru markup, they may option the crap out of the Scion up here (which would be fine with me). Then the Sub would be 3-4k more still. A WRX is 32.5 before any pdi/freight. I'd expect the BRZ to be 30+ before options with a limited getting into 34ish. So the Scion will probably close to 30 with no extra options.

Heated seats are pretty much manditory, and they'll probably do different tire configs.

I want a scion with heated seats, push start, manual climate, and controls on the wheel. No interest in wasting my money on a nav or climate or leather.

They did the same thing with the VW GTI - pretty much loaded vs the US which has more stripper models.

Yeah companies often intentionally option vehicles in Canada differently than is even available in the USA so that you cannot make direct comparisons to USA models for pricing. Of course also due to different demographics as well, but yeah this was just a curiosity not much more.

You can't just look at exchange rates for the USD and CAD and get a price for a vehicle. The Canadian dollar has a different amount of purchasing power as the US dollar does. Go on Canada Nissan's website. Price of a brand new base-level 370Z is 40,900 CAD. Price of a 370Z in the US? 31,900.

Relax, guys. Relax.
