Hello everyone,

I've been looking at getting an FRS since 2013 and finally pulled the trigger on a 2015 FRS with 9,200 in December 2019. Found so much information online and those of you who have just stopped me at grocery stores or at stop lights to just say hi and welcome to the club have been awesome. Do 86 owners in Portland metro area still go out for day runs to the coast?

Hello FT86 Club members!

Just took possession of a 2013 Scion FR-S with a few "minor" mods that give her a little more aggressive look and a wee bit more power than they came from the factory...

It's a straight up beast of a track car that I am hoping to make a little more street friendly so I don't piss off too many neighbors and fellow (traffic) law abiding citizens.... I simply do not want her to sit up in the garage all the time, so I want to make it a little more multipurpose if I can (functioning turn signals and headlights, exhaust {with cutouts}, etc) . Only time will tell if I abandon this goal and just leave her as is

Welcome!

The only forum member I know down your way is ol @Ultramaroon. The old coot may start off for the coast, then get hung up at a coffee shop for a big breakfast, then turn around and go back home for a nap. -

Welcome, Frankenscion -

Looks like you best leave that machine in "beast mode" and go buy a tamer one for the street -

I'm sure that we can rustle up a few folks. We used to have quite a group but most of them moved on to other platforms. I don't follow the faycebuque crowd.

I started here as a prospective Toybaru buyer, but still haven't pulled the trigger. Actually, I started to focus on paying off my $800/mo student loans in heavier chunks (which is super boring, but the "mature" thing to do). All of my fun money-hungry hobbies are now on hold for a potential 3 years (the minimum payment term extends out to an additional 7 years or so). My thought process is, now that I'm in the habit of saving money, once the debt is paid, then the reward (buying my used dream car in cash) becomes a reality. My goal is to acquire a Gen 1 NSX (with the pop-up headlights). The plan is to buy one, enjoy it for a few years, maybe sell it (for the same price) and let someone else enjoy it, then return to the Toybaru scene.

So about 5 years ago, I test drove a pre-owned Scion FR-S at a Ford dealer that came in on a trade. I was happy that it was rear-wheel drive and that it ticked all the boxes I had, but this one was an automatic with those damn paddle shifters. I walked away unimpressed as the dealer told me that all of these cars were automatic and I never looked back at the FR-S again. Until just recently.

I was going to check out one of the only GR Supras in the area and after leaving that Toyota dealer learning that the owner of this particular dealer had purchased the only Supra they had on the lot and was keeping it away from the public. I didn’t even get to see it. So while I was leaving that dealer, I passed by another dealer just next door which happened to be a Subaru dealer. On the lot there, I saw another FR-S, and just for shits and giggles, I took a peek. It was a manual! I told the salesman that I was told all of these were automatics. Apparently I was misinformed. So I quickly returned the next day and made the purchase.

Hi folks! Thanks to the administrator for admitting me. I won't have much to add since I've only had this great sports car for 3 weeks and there's a lot learn. Really liking what I see so far!
