Good aftermarket oil filter and crush washer replacement?

I know the OEM filter is highly recommended. But I have some Amazon GC burning a hole in my pocket. If anyone has experimented with aftermarket filters, it will be great to hear your stories. Also I hate to replacement the crush washer every time. Is there a replacement washer available? I changed oil for my Toyota's and Honda's for many years, never replaced a single gasket/washer. Thanks for the help.

You could get this - never have to worry about a crush washer again!

Or get this, you can attach a hose/tube to the short nipple to direct the oil:

So far, the Purolator PSL14459 seems to be serving me well as a filter. $10.50 a pop. The Fram XG9688 should also be quite good, and costs only $6.75 each.

I got the second one for my FR-S. I just reach my hand under, flip the switch, and it drains through the tube into my can. Easiest oil changes ever. I won't go without one now. No jacking up the car, no mess, and no, it never hits on anything and I'm lowered 1.4". If it hits something, you're off-roading.

thanks. you mean you can reach the fumoto without using a ramp? do you have a very long arm?

That's strange-- 14459 is the purolator for the SVX.

Fumoto valve, you won't regret it. Get the safety clip too just in case.

Let me get this straight. Your gonna spend $25-30 for oil, $4-5 for a filter, but you don't want to replace a 75 cent (OEM) crushwasher?

My local Toyo dealer did my first oul change and didn't replace the washer...it leaked. Not sure why this car seems to need the washer replaced, but it seems that it does.

Yeah, I'm sure a generic washer will work, but it requires a 16mm. I checked all my local parts/accessory stores and could not find anything larger than a 14mm.

Cool! I'm not sure how I missed that one. 14459 is burned into my memory from the countless oil changes on my svx with over 304,000 miles on it. I guess since I've used mostly OEM subaru filters on my BRZ I just never bought a purolator for it yet.
