Here's a shot I took of a friend with a T1i with 24-105mm F/4.0 L lens. Shot at F/8.0 1/30 ISO 100.

Meh.. Sure we'd all like 5D's but $400 for a good APSC body (t3i/t5i) it's hard to beat and if you know the difference between full frame and APSC and the 1.62 crop factor you can adjust accordingly regarding which lenses you buy.

I think he was referencing the view angle.

Obviously I wasn't referencing a 9 year old DSLR that is no longer in production. But yes, you can find a used gen 1 5D on a budget.

Photography has been one of my primary hobbies for a little while now, here are some of my favorites. A lot of them were taken in Japan, as I've spent a lot of time there.

Nice pictures
I'm actually going to Japan in about a month - anything I should look out for? Nice viewing spots, car-related activities, if possible? I'm looking to take plenty of pictures over there!

this is true for most photography yes, in fact if you're shooting at around F4-F8 you're probably better off for most things with APS-C

but I'm one of those weird people that just shoots wide open all the time, and when you're at the limit, you can't buy a lens to compensate.

I have a Cosina 55mm f1.2 lens and i had, at one time a Pentax 85mm f1.8 lens (manual focus), and my current go to lenses are Pentax 31mm F1.8 and 41mm F1.9

my goal in photography was mostly to chase down that 1 shot where i capture something magical inside a 10-20 inch depth of field corridor and everything else to dissolve into the nether...

Yes 35 fixed.

Take your 18-55 off. Purchase this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...mm_f_1_8G.html put it on, and use it for 30-90 days before putting the kit lens back on. Otherwise you will soon realize (after the placebo effect dies off) that the photos you are taking look like a point and shoot.

This is a great shot. A little cold in my eyes but very sharp for such a slow shutter!

@nelsmar - the photo you posted a while back with the Lotus that you said was your friend...are you talking about VisualEchos from the s2ki forum? If so, that guy takes some seriously good photos. I used to ask him for advice on that forum when I had the s2k myself. Unbelievable photos!

Thanks! I took it from the passenger seat of my S2000 with the top down, so I was able to aim the camera fairly well. Optical image stabilization from my lens didn't hurt either. But you're right, it is a tad cold.

Here's a few.

Long exposure during a drive downtown in my then Honda Crosstour
Sony Alpha A99 | Sony 16/f2.8 Fisheye | Gitzo GK1582OT | 15 seconds | f/8.0 | ISO 100

Same principal idea except in flight at around 3000ft in a Piper Aerostar PA-60-700P | Sony Alpha A700 | Sigma 10-20/f3.5 EX DC HSM | 20 seconds | f/8.0 | ISO 100

A friend of mine and I in my wife's Lexus IS250C F-Sport | Sony Alpha A99 | Sony 16/f2.8 Fisheye | 2.5 seconds | f/4.0 | ISO 400

F-Sport static shot | Sony Alpha A99 | Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 2,8/16-35 | 30 seconds | f/11.0 | ISO 100 | 16.0 mm

Since I don't have any car to car, air to air will have to suffice until I can find someone to help me out with the cars
Piper Aerostar PA-60-700P | Sony Alpha A900 | Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 1,8/135 | 1/400 Second (Owner wanted to make sure we could see the blades since he had just upgraded to four blades from three) | f/8.0 | ISO 100

Remos GX | Sony Alpha A900 | Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 1,8/135 | 1/80 Second (Full rotation) | f/16.0 | ISO 100

Emirates Boeing 772LR | Sony Alpha A700 | Sigma 4.5/f2.8 EX DC HSM Circular Fisheye | 11 Seconds | f/8.0 | ISO 100

Hope you guys like the photos! Have a great rest of the weekend!
