It did stop the squeak, but they replaced throw out bearing and clutch.

I have the exact same noise coming from my clutch pedal recently. Not sure what I can do at this point as I'm already out of the warranty. 42500

You're out of bumper to bumper warranty, but still have powertrain warranty.

Sigh of relief..for now.

Will probably keep an eye on it for now since I have 20k left on that warranty.

Throwing this out there, has anyone removed the clutch spring? I will need to put this back on before bringing it to the dealer. Also wondering if anyone is past 40k with this noise, and or has decided to not fix it and is living with the noise.

Dropped the transmission, lubed the shift fork where it pushes on the throw out bearing, replaced the throwout bearing since it also looked/felt worn, and lubed the pivot point where the slave touches the fork.

No more noise.

Just picked up my car and they said they could not replicate the issue. I took one of the techs for a test drive to try to replicate the problem... and it didn't happen. He greased up the spring and cable but im believing that it is in fact the throw out bearing like others have reported. When I got home the squeak came back, but alot quieter.

Going to live with it until my warranty is about to expire.

How many miles did you have? There really should be a TSB for this.

I just wanted to also add my personal experience here to confirm what seems to be a common issue with the manual transmissions.

I just picked up my car yesterday afternoon from a local Subaru dealership for the same issue, including clutch squeaking, stiff clutch, and weird catch points. It started initially as just the squeaking clutch, but the clutch action started to get stiffer, and the catch point started to shift on me.

The tech initially said he couldn't repro the issue, so I called BS and told them exactly what they had to do in order to repro the problem. After inspection, it was found that the throwout bearing was seizing, which had caused damage to the clutch disk, clutch housing, flywheel, and clutch fork and springs. A full clutch kit was ordered and all of the previously-mentioned items were replaced under warranty.

After the repair, the car is driving BUTTERY smooth, with no noise either. Seriously, the car didn't even feel this good from the factory. I'm thinking there is something wrong with the spec for these items coming from the factory, because the car feels fantastic now and the noise is gone!
