There are four large, heavy piece of glasses, how about a polycarbonate resin replacement?

I too would love to hear you elaborate on why you feel that the DW is a horrible tire.

Got a B14115 fitted in mine for the past 2 weeks. So far so good. Around 10kg's in weight saved.
Slightly larger than the B106. Haven't had any problems with it. I purchased a trickle charger/tender for it - haven't used it yet. Car starts ok.

I was intending to mount mine *horizontally* to help lower the COG, but the battery tie down's are higher than the height of the battery lying on its side.
So I stood it up. Also these 'braille's are also made by Deka.

Looks dodgey, but the battery is actually quite secure. I can push the car backwards(in neutral) while holding onto the battery and it won't budge. I'll get something made up later though.

B14115 = ETX14 so you can prob get something cheaper.

You can see in the picture, the left side clamp, the wingnut is almost touching the chassis. I think if you go the B106, you might have problems trying to actually mount it, unless you like drilling holes into the car, etc to mount it properly. Also, I believe you will probably need to keep the battery connected to a tender when not in use.

We made the mistake of reading reviews and buying this tire for our 911c4. Let me tell you its 85% the tire the Micheline ps2 was, but that 15% IS PRETTY SIGNIFICANT

its offer 3x the mileage of a PS2. felt like 1/3 the grip. I live in a part of the country where we have to drive 100 miles thru desert and canyons to get to like Walmart. Ok a lil exaggeration but you get the idea. Day temps being 115 is not uncommon. This tire sucked, it smeared, didnt stick to make it worth keeping didnt wear fast enough to die and go away. coming back to ps2 is like going home to see momma.

you wouldnt think the difference between a 220 treadwear and 300 would be so stark!
The conti product now rests on name alone, carcass plies are thing and soft;, they belong on passenger cars at best for those willing to trade performance for economy. if I wanted a prius I'd buy one. Like pirelli I've lost faith and interest in their next tire.

Dunlop and Brigdestone are doing good stuff, so its not like I hate on non michelin brands or anything, but the DW was junk, IMHO. ymmv

It makes sense that a tire with a 300 treadwear rating feels like it has 30% less grip than a 220 especially since those treadwear ratings are pretty arbitrary. Heck, some 220 treadwear tires might feel 30% grippier than another 220 treadwear tire.

Yeh it's all relative and in australa it's spring right now so road temps haven't been too bad. Either way for what I paid and the tread life I'll likely get from the DWs I'm still very happy with them.

Not an option for the Aussies among us, but here in the UK i reckon I'd miss the air-con about 1 week a year, max. Has anyone pulled that yet, and put it on the scales? I seem to remember reading 25lbs but I think that was a guesstimate from an old thread before anyone got their hands on the car!

With less weight on the skinny front tyres do you think pulling the power steering gubbins out would be feasible? Great for the COG given that its mounted in the steering column.

That, a lightweight battery and flywheel, upgraded front bumper beam and you'd be heading back to 50/50 weight distribution, no?

Steveo and JohnATL, I have used Braille batteries on both my STi cars and a braille knockoff on my S4 Avant. I have had good luck in all cases, I have followed recommended sizing for each car... Only thing to watch for is prolonged sitting in cold weather can drain those smaller batteries within days or weeks compared to normal battery. Speaking of which, how are the lithium ion batteries in cold weather?

You don't use the air-con in winter?

^^^^^^ Ditto

I use AC all the time in the summer (to keep cool) and in the winter (to help get rid of window condensation/fog). That will be the last thing I do for weight savings while I daily drive this car. Though I don't want to make that sacrifice, everybody is different and it just depends on how serious you are about dropping weight and your preferences for the car.

Recent track day, I had my car on the scales: 1170kgs.
Passenger seat removed, Rear buckets and fold down removed, Boot floor and foam removed, no spare wheel, and about 5/8 full tank.

Stock weight of the car(on the Toyota Australia website) is 1275kg.
